The Quilt Show Is Here!

Amy from Park City Girl is hosting another Blogger's Quilt Festival, lots of wonderful eye candy [do you remember how big the last one got?] This quilt is my entry.

quilt1

I made this for a friend's daughter who was getting married. It was the biggest machine-embroidered quilt I had made to date. It seemed endless! It was also purple, which is really not my favorite color - quite the contrary - I have a hard time working with purple. But it was her favorite color so purple it had to be. Which is a good thing, because if it had been any other color, I would have been tempted to keep it, lol! The designs were all freebies I found on the net and I really loved them. I totally underestimated the time it would take and it didn't arrive until after the wedding, but they loved it.

Head on over to Amy's for the huge show - and keep checking back, it'll get bigger as time goes on! Don't forget to enter your own!

Just A Few Things + Portholes

Snippets top is done! I'm so happy.

My back is yelling at me so I'm going to sit and stitch the rest of the day. Here's a sneak peek:

I need to rest up for the Expo tomorrow, ya know. I hope I can sleep tonight.

A few people have finished their Portholes and shared pics. I think Jenny finished hers first; she made a gorgeous beach bag for a friend. The wave quilting is awesome!

Peg made a wonderful table runner. Don't those colors just scream summer! [She lives in Australia.] Beautiful, Peg!

And Carrie stitched towels for her daughter - love the fabric borders! What a nifty idea, Carrie, I love them!

You all did such wonderful projects! I'm so thrilled that you liked my designs. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone - I know I will, lol!

Lest You Think I'm Slacking....

I'm not. Not really. I'm trying to get things done. Especially now that the babies are home and purring. I've been doing a lot of this:

These designs are from Embroidery Library, and they're not playing nice. They're puckering. I'm using quality quilter's cotton, light-weight fusible interfacing, a cut-away stabilizer, and a tear-away stabilizer. All sprayed with quilt basting spray to minimize the fabric movement. I did contact EL, and they suggested I use canvas - a canvas quilt? I don't think so. But I'll get them done if it kills me. Am I the only one who hates quilt basting spray? I think I get more in me than on whatever I'm spraying. *cough cough*

So far I have this many done.

Plus the one I finished today, which took THREE BOBBINS.

I also got Snippets on the design wall -

and started sewing them together! Now if I can just get my points to line up. Points are the bane of my existence.

One more thing. Jenny of Elefantz did a post where she mentioned a book called Sew Pretty Christmas Homestyle. I fell absolutely in love and looked at my library website - they had Sew Pretty Homestyle, so I got that, and the Christmas one is now on hold. Where have these books been hiding? I want to make everything in them! Thanks Jenny, I didn't have nearly enough projects to keep me going. *SNORT*

Charming Girls Quilt Club

Time to have some fun! Kelly, from Charming Chatter, has started the Charming Girls Quilt Club. Each month, you submit photos of a project you want to complete that month. Then, on or before the end of the month, you submit photos of the finished project. It doesn't have to be quilts! If you finish it, you'll be entered in a drawing to win a $25 gift certificate from her store. You can get extra entries too - go read all about it, and sign up!

This is my entry.

I had the blocks made, but completely stalled. So this is a good opportunity to get it in gear! The thought of ironing and cutting all the fabric for sashing has had me sitting on my keister.

My oldest son, John, went into the bathroom last night and found this.

This is Hermoine. And yes, she owns the joint.

Was she sitting in there because it was nice and cool, surrounded by porcelain? No.

She was waiting for a human to come and give her a drink. Apparently bowls are no longer good enough, she wants a freshwater stream.

Next, she'll be demanding coffee in the morning.

My Quilt Companion

This is a quilt I just finished for a dear friend. His name is Russell and he's 14 years old. He has a brain tumor and is in the hospital right now. He loves surfing, so I added some surfboards. The very light blue blocks have bible verses written on them - I was going to do them in machine embroidery, but my embroidery machine isn't working properly. All the verses have to do with water.

This is Hermoine. She is my constant companion. Her favorite place is on whatever quilt I'm working on - I'm sure lots of you can relate! We also have a dog, Abby. I can't seem to find a picture of her. OOPS. Yes, I'm a cat person. I suppose I'll have to get a picture of the dog one of these days!
I'm still trying to figure out posting on blogger. This is fun! At least it will be if my post lines up properly, lol!
