Catch-Up

Good morning!  I'm playing around with this new Blogger, it's not that different, I guess.  And I realized I'd forgotten to post the Scripture Quilt Introduction!  Click on the title to download it:

Scripture Quilt Introduction

Again, the facebook group is gone, please disregard that reference in the introduction.

There have been a few changes in Allie-land.  My oldest son got a new puppy, her name is Leia and she is kitty-approved.

These two are best buds.  The other kitty is still not sure.  Also, my son got engaged, the wedding is a year from September.  Lots of planning going on!

Mom is doing well, other than losing her sight.  I took her to the eye doctor the other day, and was able to get her declared legally blind, which means a handicap parking sticker.  She uses a walker to get around now, and when we go shopping I drop her off at the door, then go park the car.  Which isn't good - she really can't see the door.  Now, with the handicap sticker, I can park and she can make it up there with me guiding her.  Her GP wouldn't give her one as he wants her to do more walking, but it's much safer for her to walk on her treadmill at home - having only one eye, and not a very good one at that, she has no depth perception and stumbles a lot.  She can hang onto the rails for the treadmill and not fall.

She says hi!!

My good camera is no longer working, so I'm having to learn my son's camera.  Wow, what an upgrade.  In the meantime, I'm stuck with my phone camera, which isn't very good.

We have new neighbors next door.  Very, very noisy neighbors, who called the police on us twice for being on our own property - they have no idea of the property line.  I'm going to be moving my sewing room upstairs to the spare room, on the quiet side of the house.  The bonus is that it will be MUCH warmer in winter!  I'll turn my current sewing room into a real family room.  I'm not sure I can even call it a sewing room anymore, as all of my sewing stuff is packed away, except for hand sewing!  More of an art room, really, as I've taken up watercolor.  Or should I say, I'm trying to take up watercolor - no time, really.

Ok, that's enough about me - here's some more scripture blocks.  Click on the titles to download.

Today I'll be taking mum back to the hospital lab, she's been going once a week for her INR.  She's on warfarin now, and it's a struggle to get the dosage right.  But at least I get to spend time with her!  I pick her up very early, and take her home usually after dinner.  She always gets a good nap in at my house, lol!

Take care my friends, til next time....

Love,

Allie

Darling, I'm sorry to hear that your mother is legally blind. However, I think it is very good that you have obtained your parking sticker. That's a lot safer for the two of you. I'm also sorry that you have noisy neighbors. They can cause a lot of stress and setbacks. I wish with all my heart that it is solved. And thank you very much for the scripture patterns. I don't know if I'll be able to do them one day. But, while that day arrives, it is so beautiful, admire them ... A huge hug for you and your mother. God bless you.

Hugh has a disability parking sticker, and it's a HUGE bonus. $25, for 5 years, and there are so many shops and stores where we can park right by the door. Most are on level concrete, only one supermarket has the 2 disabled parks on a slops, and it is so hard to have your grocery trolley there and not have it run into the car or away towards someone else's vehicle. Your Mum looks so good, HI from down in New Zealand.Well done to rearrange the rooms and take up a new project.

Hi Allie, so good to get caught up with what is going on in your world. I'm sorry to read about your Mom's eyesight deteriorating but as Jean said, she looks great. That parking sticker sounds like common sense to me. Horrible neighbours...I can't imagine involving police! Good luck with getting into your watercolours...I have the gear for that here too and haven't gotten around to it. Good luck with it all; you are such a good daughter and mom too!

Good to see you around again Allie. Sorry to hear about Mum's sight - good that she has you to help her out. Good to get that disabled sticker too I am sure. Looking forward to seeing your watercolours - I have been dabbling myself this summer. Stay safe and well. xx

Congratulations to your son on his engagement. I pray the continuing pandemic does not put a damper on any of their plans.

So sorry your mom has been declared legally blind. I am glad the eye doctor was able to help you get the handicap card. She looks like she is doing well in the picture.

I hope the police were able to educate the noisy neighbors on the property lines and your don't have anymore trouble with them. Hopefully they are not noisy at night. Check with your city to see if there are any noise ordinances and if there are, don't be afraid to call and complain if the neighbors are not in compliance.

God bless.

Such a bummer about your new neighbors! I know you enjoy your beautiful wildlife in your back yard so you certainly don't want to install a fence to prove the borderline. I'm sure the police will become annoyed if they keep reporting you for being on your own property.

Glad you are back. Huge hugs to your Mom and thanks that you are taking such good care of her. Lots of elders don't have that. Really so sad! We have wonderful neighbors all around here. We seem to be the noisy one of all. But most people around here work all day and we are retired. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent with us.

Good to see your mom. Say hi to her from all of us. Congratulations on your son's engagement! My son is now married but no wedding yet. That is scheduled for next May...

Sorry to hear about your neighbors. It is so stressful when the relationships between neighbors isn't good. We've had a time with ours too before.

I'd love to try watercolor but I'm still trying to get a handle on sketching!
