August Already?

Well let's give this new blogger a try, eh?

So far so good.

Although like everything else they try to "fix", it takes longer, there are more clicks involved.  Seems like when they streamline the look of a new interface, they hide all the controls and you have to click extra times to get to something that used to be right there.

So - it's August.  Just like that.  I must have blinked.  I've officially retired from selling patterns, and was going to look for work, but hey, pandemic.  Hubby will be laid off starting next week, we don't know for how long.

Mum is doing well, here's a pic of her with her new hair-do -

She was extremely relieved to finally get to the hairdresser.

I've decided to make a start on something that's been on my mind a lot - two scripture quilts, one for each son.  I'm picking out bible verses and turning them into stitcheries, with little pictures scattered throughout.  On my facebook group, Allie-oops Designs, I'll be uploading the free blocks as I create them.  So if you want to join in, just click the link and apply to join.  No men allowed, and you do have to answer a question, I try to keep the spam and 'bots out.  Facebook will be the only way to get the blocks.

Our favorite antique shop is closing - we thought maybe because of the virus, but no, the lady who owns it is in her 80's and recently lost both her husband and son.  We did find some bargains, my son bought a huge display case to show off his vintage fountain pen collection (he needs another one) and I found this -

I really wanted a red one, but this will do just fine. *smile*  I've really been drawn to yellow lately, living in the north country we don't see the sun in winter and yellow seems to brighten my mood.  I wouldn't want everything yellow, but splashes of it scattered here and there liven things up.

I'm not sure how much longer I'll be blogging - I seem to have lost interest, not surprising after 11 years!  But we'll see how it goes.  I am still reading your blogs, y'all need to stop posting cute stuff because I want to make it all.....lol.  Take care, dear friends.

Love,

Allie

I saw the new blogger but went back to the old for now. I hope you don't go away from blogging. I have not had anything to blog about along the sewing and quilting, so I am trying to do other things. I read a lot for book reviews so I'm offering that for now.

Your mom looks amazing.... hello to her from me.... I once heard a 'decorater' say it's good to have something yellow in each room for exactly the reason it brightens things up...

I hope you can find a job that suits your needs, hard to do nowadays. We are fortunate, my husband works on submarine electronics, so they will not close, we need our defense. I miss making patterns but giving my arm a rest from punching and it is nice to take the time to do things for myself, hopefully some painting this week.
Love your new chair, a fun find.

Oh, I would miss you!! I was just thinking about you. For real!!! I have been silent on my blog, too. I long for normalcy and I am thankful that God never ever changes. He is my steady rock! Love to you, my dear sister!

Oh I just love those kitchen chairs - my mom and dad had one - can't remember the color though.
Glad to see your mom - and her new "do" is lovely!
I have always enjoyed your blog - I know it's a lot of work but I sure enjoy reading about you and the family.
Love and prayers

I LOVE your antique store find! Glad your mum is doing well. I'm in need of a highlighting touch-up myself!  With mask mandates I just don't want to get out much.  I'm not afraid of the "virus", I just don't think masks work and really cause more harm than good.  Oops...I should learn to be quiet. I get scathing responses online when I express my opinion about that.  You would be sorely missed if you left blogland but I do understand if you've lost your passion for blogging. This really is a ministry Allie. You've given me so much to think about over the years, so much encouragement even though you don't know me, and such sweet patterns. God loves a cheerful giver and I think that describes YOU!  Yours and Jenny's (Elefanz) are my favorite bloggers and you are both unafraid to let His light shine through you. God bless!

Your mom's haircut looks great on her. I am leery of going to get mine cut. I had made an appointment to get it cut to donate, but they closed before my appointment. I guess when I do get it cut, they will get several more inches :-).

I hope you don't quit blogging altogether. I would miss you. I don't do FB or other social media. I enjoy reading about all your posts, whether they are about quilting or what is happening on your side of the state, your family and adventures.

I love your yellow stool. Yellow is one of my favorite colors. It reminds me of one my parents had when I was a kid. Theirs was red. They finally had to replace it. I know have the replacement because my sister didn't want it anymore. It is in my laundry room.

I love the picture of the fawn and rabbit. I will be praying about you & your hubby's unemployment situation.

Sweet, sweet pictures of the deer and rabbit.

You could paint the step stool red. I know you like the 50's red vintage look.

Great pictures! Hi Mom! The stool is SO awesome! I’ve wanted one like that for at least 10 years now! If you stop blogging, you’ll have to keep posting on Facebook. 11 years is a long time to follow someone’s life ❤️ Love you Allie Oops!

Mum is looking great and I love your new steps/seat - brilliant. The new blogger is all ok for me except the labels which I keep complaining about. xx

I had a stool just like yours many years ago. I think I gave it away when we moved but still miss it. I enjoyed visiting your blog today.

I really enjoy reading your blog, though I am sure it is a time commitment! Love the photos of your deer and bunny. What wonderful “neighbors” to have. My grandma had one of those awesome stools in red. It was definitely a permanent fixture in her house, no matter where she lived. I’m looking forward to seeing the scripture quilts on Facebook. Take care and stay safe!
