Happy New Year!

Hello dear friends, it's been awhile.  As you can see, I'm spending the very last day of the year doing what I love - watching Fred Astaire and stitching.  See those curtains?  I finally made them, I'm so tired of living in a fishbowl for the neighbors to gawk at, and besides it's winter and there is nothing to look at out there, lol.  With the white muslin, I have both privacy and light.  Well, as much light as there is out there, anyway....

I've not felt like blogging, or facebooking, or anything much.  A few days before Christmas we had a family tragedy so it's not been festive around here.  Not going into detail but mum is fine, it wasn't her.  I would really appreciate your prayers for my cousin and her three children.

I received a couple of gifts that blew me away....my dear friend Lyn sent me some spoolholders for my featherweight, hand made by her, how precious is that!

So much prettier than the red felt!

And then my dear friend Jan sent me a box that made me burst into tears, and I mean that literally.

A Quilt of Valor - sorry for the bad pic, my quilt holder is sleeping.  I'm still trying to decide whether to hang it or just hug it.  Her husband quilted it!  I'm still blown away.  Jan and her husband make hundreds of quilts for Quilts of Valor and Project Linus - they are amazing!

The January issue of the Applique Club is going out tonight. Here are the January pictures -

And a peek at February!

I do hope and pray that you all have a safe, prosperous and healthy New Year.  And please remember that we don't have to wait for a new year for a new slate - God's mercies are new every morning!
(Lamentations 3:22-24) "¶ It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.  {23} They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.  {24} The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him."

See you soon -
Love,
Allie

Happy Little Things BOM - Borders and Finishing + Giveaway!

Can you believe we're at the border and finishing stage of this BOM?  So fun!  I've been doing some big-stitch quilting -

because my borders have been on for awhile.  I really love how fast hand-quilting with a big stitch is!

My borders are done differently than in your instructions, I decided I'd make a table runner and just added strips of fabric in a willy-nilly fashion, making all blocks the same size.

I wanted a table runner for my foyer table.

As you can see, I'm not done quilting yet.  I used all fabrics by Kim Diehl, love her lines.  No pictures of it on my foyer table - hubby's desk is behind it, and it's never picture-worthy.  MEN.

All I did for my borders was add strips in a log cabin fashion, then stitched the blocks together.  I love it.  It's exactly what I wanted and it fits my table perfectly.  It's a long, skinny table, ideal for laying packages and library books on.
