Mornings

Good morning dear friends!  It's so good to be awake at dawn again.

I wish my camera had caught just how pink the sky was.  Last week, I started a new job - and quit the next day.  I won't detail it, suffice it to say it wasn't for me.  I don't mind working the afternoon shift, but I'm glad to be back on my early morning schedule.

Nothing much is new in Allie-land.  Mum fell a couple of weeks ago, bruised her tailbone, and has had a bad cold - I'm finally getting her out of the house today, I think she needs it!

Anybody else have trouble waiting for Christmas to give gifts?  It's why I shop last minute - and apparently my son has the same trouble.

I recently starting using mechanical pencils, bought at the dollar store after my expensive pencil sharpener gave up the ghost.  My son had bought me the darker blue pen last year, which I dearly love, it's a vintage Sheaffer.  This year, he bought me the matching pencil - well, the color is different, thank goodness for that, otherwise I'd keep picking up the wrong one!  Isn't it lovely?  It's amazing to me how wonderful it is to use good tools!

My oldest son has a new kitty, another rescue.  They're slowly introducing the new one to the family.

Her name is Cookie.  I can't wait to meet her.  I miss having a kitty - but remembering how heartbroken I was when my Hermione died, I can't do it again.

I'm currently working on January's patterns for the Applique Club.  I love working with happy colors in the grey days of winter!

And of course, those grey days make it hard to take pictures, lol!  But oh these 30's fabrics cheer me up.

I guess that's all the news worth reporting from here, I hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) - I'm off to buy a turkey breast today.  I can't wait.  Thanksgiving is my favorite - family, good food, nobody has to buy gifts.  LOL!

Be blessed - see you soon!
Love,
Allie

(Psalms 69:30) "I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving."

Sorry to hear about your mom. I'm sure she will enjoy going out. We just moved and this is the first year for my husband and I to be away from the kids and grandkids for Thanksgiving, we are having a turkey breast also. Your applique looks very pretty. I love thirties fabrics!

We celebrate birthdays on Thanksgiving, so we do have presents to buy. Hope you have a great time with your family. That job sounds awful. Wish your mother a speedy recovery - having two new health things to deal with at the same time is no fun.

Glad you are back on days, night is not a good time to be out. Glad your mom is ok, I have a broken tailbone and it can be a literal pain in the butt, lol. I need to start organizing my gift ideas so I can figure out who is getting something this year, getting expensive to ship now so I give to different friends and family each year. Of course the boys are on the top of my list.

Too bad your new job was not what you expected it to be.

Sorry to hear about Mum - hope you manage a nice trip out with her. That pen and pencil set is lovely! I like a propelling pencil too and have a selection - nothing as nice as yours though! Pretty fabrics Allie. xx

Good to hear your mom is on the mend. I know after being cooped up, she'll want to get out too!
Your applique is lovely - I don't know what it is about 30's fabric - I love it too - I've always been partial to Aunt Grace, especially that Christmas line that came out a few years ago.
Blessings!

Glad to hear you mom is on the mend. I actually quit a job before I even started it. After I was offered it, I talked to a few people who worked there and decided it was not a place I wanted to work.

Lovely pen and pencil set.

Happy Thanksgiving.

The next thing you need is a fountain pen!! I know he can set you up with one of those, too! That is a lovely pen and pencil set!

Have a precious Thanksgiving, my friend!

I love gadgets....crafts, hardware, cooking. Cookie looks like Motley, the mother to most of the feral cats we've taken in. We have 4 in the house, 3 in the garage and 1 in the shed-he won't let us pick him up. He has advanced some, letting us pet him. He's spending the day indoors because we're having 60 mph gusts. I put a heated birdbath, a heavy dog house a friend made me and several high places for him to jump...inside the shed. It's not heated like the garage but it's the best I can do. I've thought of getting a heating pad to go under the cat bed inside the dog house because one day the temp will dip way below freezing but I'm afraid of keeping it plugged in because some said it did catch on fire. It's supposed to have a auto shut off but things out of China just aren't reliable. I'm also concerned he may get "soft" and not be able to stand the cold like other feral cats. I don't know where those cats go but they survive. One older cat lived under a boat a man turned upside down for the winter and she lived many many years. They will all get a bit of turkey tomorrow if they want it. I too would love a puppy but my last and final dog battled cancer 6 years. She died last summer and I'm still hurting a lot. Emotionally and financially, I just can't go through that again. God gave me 4 extra years that all her doctors were amazed at. I'm thankful because no more dogs (or cat rescues)for me. Being single I would worry what would happen if I get down sick. I'm no spring chicken anymore-more like an old buzzard. Have a great Thanksgiving.

Some morning skies are lovely. I have a similar photo taken one morning out my back door. Pink sky and tree branches. Say hi to your mom and I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving. Family time is precious.
