OOPS and OOPS some more....

Well I'm an idiot.  I freely admit it.  I had used the wrong stitchery file on my Freedom pattern....it's been corrected, and if you downloaded it you should get a notice to download the corrected file.

If you don't get a notice, here's the direct link -
Freedom free pattern on craftsy.  Just download it again and it'll be the correct one.

Apparently I didn't drink enough coffee that day.  So sorry!!!!!!!!  Thank you so much Robin!!!!

About the blog comments disappearing into the ether, this is a very good blog post I read on the subject by Just Let Me Quilt.  Click on the name.  I tried moving to moderated comments to see if that helped, and it did not.  She suggests when you write a blog post, immediately comment on your own post, and check the "send me emails" for all comments.  I'm going to try that right now.

I think it's time for a nap....

Allie

Not Happy

Hi everyone, a quick note to say that I'm really not happy with blogger right now, more than half the comments are not coming to my email inbox.  And some aren't even showing up on the blog.  I had to check the "comments" tab on my dashboard and was horrified.  I hate missing comments....if you have commented and haven't heard from me, either you're a no-reply blogger or I just didn't see it, thanks to blogger.

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend - I'm off to enjoy my brother's birthday party!

Allie

Straight to Summer

It's just noon and already 91F.  I think we've skipped spring.  Not complaining mind you - after the winter, it seems I can't get enough warmth!!

Do you remember that bulb I planted April 9th?

Guess what is finally coming up!

So exciting.  My African Violets are doing well after getting a new home as well.  The one without flowers has buds.

I was at the library the other day, they had a robin build a nest on the outside of the window in the children's department - so neat!

They've been live-streaming everything.  What a great learning experience for the kiddos.

Not much has been happening on the stitching front.  Mom's home is getting more and more dangerous, so I broke down and called A Place For Mom.  Wow can I recommend them!  So incredibly helpful.  So far I've been contacted by four places, all close by, and mum is very excited - we're going to be taking tours.  They may be able to get her some financial help as she's the spouse of TWO war veterans.  I can't say enough good about this organization.

Bear with me, I'm going to whine a bit - I saw a quilt pattern that I fell in love with the other day, and followed the link to the website.  The digital pattern was over $80!!!  Is this a trend?  I was appalled.  I don't pay that much for a whole BOOK of patterns.  I may be dating myself, but I remember when patterns were no more than $8, and fabric was $3/yd....rant over...

Today is my brother's birthday, we're celebrating tomorrow.  Last year, the fawns were born on his birthday.  I've seen no doe activity around here, but the neighbors have all been working outside, so they may be staying away.  Since I have no pics of baby deer, I'll share a pic of Sophie...how she loves my son!

I hope you have a very blessed Memorial Day weekend, all those in the States - and the rest of you, have a great weekend too!  See ya soon!
Love,
Allie

Sophie And A Free Pattern

I hope you've all been well, it's been a warm and wet spring for us here in Allie-land.  I'd like to introduce you all to my new grand-kitty, Sophie...

That was her first day home at my son's house.  She follows him everywhere.  She loves him so much.

Apparently she loves his retro bathroom, too.  The tile matches her eyes, and the black trim tile matches the rest of her.  I can't wait to cat-sit in July!!!  The rescue named her Sylvie, but he preferred Sophie, and so do I.

I haven't been home a whole lot lately, but today I was able to finish up a couple of new patterns.  Just in time for the holiday!  Here is Liberty - -

Do NOT look close at my satin stitches in the center of the flowers.  I normally avoid that stitch, as I'm rubbish at it, but decided the only way to get better was to just DO it.  I can live with it....

And also, Freedom.

Both are in my shop, Allie-oops Designs, and Freedom is, naturally, free!  My son thought that was appropriate.  Both are finished with a log cabin block to turn them into either snack mats or table toppers, but you could easily put the log cabin block on the bottom for a wall hanging.  Full instructions are included for the mats - if you orient the blocks vertically, just swap out the border strips, put the longer strips on the sides instead of top and bottom.

My next project is going to be a larger quilt.  I've been wanting to do something with birds, and it's starting to come together in my head.  It'll be applique and I'll use that gorgeous romantic fabric I bought, I can't wait.

It's almost bedtime [it's 8pm] so I'm going to sign off, the rest of the week is flat-out busy - have a great week, and enjoy your Memorial Day weekend, for those in the states!
Love,
Allie

Summer Glory

Well spring has finally sprung, the trees are popping out in new clothes everywhere - such a relief on the eyes to see so much green!

And of course the blossoms are just gorgeous!  Everything smells so good, it's hard to close the windows at night!

I just finished a new pattern, it dawned on me that I had no patriotic quilts or table runners hanging around, and that had to be fixed.  Memorial Day is coming, and of course the 4th of July!

Bring it on, I'm ready.  Super fast to stitch - even for ol' slowpoke me, lol.  All done in backstitch, my favorite.

Simple quilting, I just used a wavy stitch on my machine.  I might have to give it to mum, if she sees it.....

If you'd like some patriotic table decor to stitch, Summer Glory is available in my shop now -

I've prepared Jenny's Live Simply quilt for hand quilting.

I'm looking forward to some slow stitching on this one, hand quilting is so calming to me.  On the machine, it's either flat out or full stop, but hand quilting feeds my soul.

This coming Saturday, my oldest and I are going looking for a kitty.  The Ferndale Cat Rescue has a cafe, or as they call it, a CATfe, where you can socialize with the kitties and pick one out.  John has already completed the preapproval process, so won't we have fun!  I'm really looking forward to it.  I'll be sure to take pictures!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful week, and that you're able to get some stitching done....
Love,
Allie
