Just Stuff

Spring is coming.  It has to.  It's a law or something.  It may get here by June.

Flowers are peeping out in the flowerbeds, and trying to crawl back into the dirt -

I think these may be more crocuses, there are white ones as well.  Mind you, I didn't plant any of them - it's always a happy surprise to see what's there.  Especially since it's snowing AGAIN.

There has been some planting going on inside, though, my poor African Violets were in tiny pots and feeling the pinch.  They have new homes.

I had such a mess on my cutting table!!  My best friend Cathy had given me an Oriental Lily grow kit - isn't it cute?

You plant the bulb right in the watering can!!  So cute!  She got one for mom too!  I hope it grows, that will brighten things up.

There has been little stitching going on - I've been reading a lot, huddled under quilts with the heating pad.  My poor fingers are too cold to stitch much, but I do have some things ready for quilting, I'll be tackling those later in the week.  And look what just came in the mail -

Flowers of Provence, by Holly Hill Quilt Designs, for Henry Glass.  I adore this fabric - look for some patriotic quilts coming soon!  I ordered for the first time from Bear Creek Quilting Company, online, and they were wonderful - even sent a free quilt pattern!

Today I had to take mum to the dentist, then we came back to my house for a quick bite of lunch.  Grocery shopping was next, so mum had to make a list, and check it twice...

Tomorrow she goes to the eye doctor, hopefully he will take her off the $100/bottle eye drops.  They're not doing a doggone thing for her except lighten her wallet.

It's dinnertime so I'm going to go heat up some chili, and huddle on the couch with the heating pad.  I'm wearing four layers and still freezing.  I'll leave you with a pic of Karen's gorgeous Grace block from the Garden of Contentment quilt - love it so much!!!

See you soon!
Love,
Allie

This weather is horrid, at least our snow is gone, I hope. It is warming up, but of course that means rain coming in this weekend, not happy with that. Love the fabric you bought, that is beautiful.

Hello Allie, lovely to have signs of spring even if the cold is determined to stay! Hello to my adopted surrogate mom in another land.... gosh it's ridiculous what medicines cost. Dentists are very expensive here too - are they there? Lovely fabrics - I'm looking forward to seeing what you make...

What a gorgeous fabric collection! I love the idea of planting in the watering can, what a great colour. We have a large old zinc watering can in the garden that I plant with lobelia in the summer - it sits next to an old metal bath that is also planted up. I love them both. xx

We lived in a house for a couple years where the previous owners planted random bulbs around the house. It was a fun surprise the first Spring to see the different flowers popping up. I think most places are skipping spring this year and going straight to summer...eventually. It would be nice if doctors gave out samples of the expensive meds before prescribing them. That way a patient can see if they work or if they're allergic before spending all that money.

You need a space heater right in front of you, your quilts, and your four layers of clothing! I know when it is damp here (ha, ha, she says after 14 hours of rain and still coming down!), sometimes it seems I'll never warm up, so I put that heater right in front of me until I do! And it's colder where you are. Your mom looks great in that photo! Is she freezing, too?

Your fabrics are gorgeous, and I look forward to seeing what you do with them. R/W/B is one of my favorite combinations! I want to see your plant when it comes up in that watering can, what a wonderful idea!

We're still dealing with this weird crappy weather - the ice storm was quite something, and caused a lot of damage. Awfully late in the winter season (can't call it spring because there isn't any evidence that spring has actually arrived!) for this kind of nonsense! When Dennis got home from work yesterday I went out to meet him in the driveway, so I could say hi (but more importantly, so I could go check the mail, LOL :D) - it was so slippery and icy out there that he made me come inside - he wouldn't let me walk around or go to the mailbox (which is literally just across the street we live on). Fortunately he drives a heavy work van so he hasn't had any problems getting in and out of the driveway, but he's not going to shovel - the snow is so heavy and wet that he said he's just going to wait for it to melt. This is the man who shovels straight lines (NOT kidding) along the sides of his driveway because he's such a fuss-pot about it! We're using the garage to go in and out of the house because of all the heavy snow on the front porch!

ooooh, Spring is coming; hang tight! The cost of eye drops are ridiculous, aren't they? I hope she doesn't need them for long!
