Updates

Whew - what a busy season it has been.  I've missed you all so.  I'm in the fourth month of staying at my aunt's, she's still not back to work, still using the wheelchair - although she's getting around a bit with the walker.

And now an update on mum.  On my last post, I mentioned that she had an appointment with the dentist - he found a bone infection in her jaw.  The next day, I took her to the foot doctor, and he sent her right off to emergency.  The infection from her foot has gone into the bone.



And there she stayed for the next four days, 60 miles from my aunt, who fell again and went to the hospital near her on the same day as mum.

The same week saw the end of my job.  And I got rear-ended.

Mum is now out of the hospital.  She's staying at my aunt's, I'm so happy to have them in the same place - she has to have IV infusions of antibiotics every. single. day.  Saturday and Sunday included.  Maybe it's a good thing I'm not working?  Also, she has no pulse in her foot, and will probably have to have surgery to open the artery.   Our beach trip is on  hold indefinitely.

And this, my dear friends, is why I have been so quiet, and not emailing or visiting you.  The only time I have is in the early mornings, when I'm at the clinic with mum, but there's no internet there.  Instead, I sew, sitting in the car....




and I do admit, it makes for a very peaceful morning.  It takes 3 hours for her infusions.  Three hours to drink my coffee, pray, and enjoy my needle slipping through the fabric.

We also had a birthday recently, I no longer am the mum of a teenager!  Sam turned 20.



How come he gets older and I don't?

I had better finish this, I smell something delicious from the kitchen....buffalo meatloaf....I do love buffalo meat!  Yum!  And I don't have to cook, can't beat that.  Take care my friends, I hope to see you soon, I'm very anxious to get back to my sewing and blogging - I MISS YOU SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


A foggy morning but the coffee helped

Silly Then Serious

First the silly.  Well, not really silly - just fun.  I'm still at my aunt's, although tonight I'm sleeping in my own bed.  More on that in a minute.

Since I've been unable to go anywhere this summer, I've been shopping.  I found the sweetest little local store in Lake Orion, MI, called Vignettes - I really need to go back there with my camera.  I found the cutest wall hooks, they're cast iron and they suit me perfectly...



Aren't they gorgeous?  Her shop is very shabby chic, with lots of hand-crafted goodies, painted furniture, and now clothing....can't wait to take my aunt there.

Then a new local quilt shop opened.  OH MY.  You know I had to go there, right?



I had some help taking photos and opening the bag.




I got the loveliest fat quarter bundle of London prints.  I have an idea for a small wall quilt with these.




And a fat quarter for a far-away friend [far in distance, not in heart].



Some for keeping, some for sharing [someone just had a birthday I missed...]





Think that gives me something to look forward to?  Me too.

And now for something serious.

Mum is having trouble.  You might know she has diabetes - and when a diabetic gets an injury to their feet, it can get serious in a flash.  Mum cut her big toe on something, and the wound is getting bad.  We find out Tuesday if it's gone into the bone.



We took her shopping today, great fun watching her maneuver a scooter for the first time.



She was FAST on that thing.

She's in a lot of pain.  She may lose the toe, or even the foot.  I haven't made our reservations yet for our beach trip, and probably won't until we know what's going to happen.  If you're a praying person, we would really appreciate your prayers.  She's not sleeping due to the pain.  And to add insult to injury, she has to go to the dentist tomorrow.  She's getting it from both ends.....



But she can still smile for you, my blog friends.

I've not answered any emails lately, or been to blogs, I'm trying to take care of both mum and my aunt, in addition to working.  No rest for the wicked, right?  *G*

I'll see you soon, I must go pet my kitty [and my new fabric!!!!] before bed!  Bed in my own room [have to take mum to her appointment tomorrow], I can hardly believe it!
