Adventures, continued.....

Well, I laid out my loot this afternoon to see what I had purchased, and fell in love with it all over again.  Wanna see?  I have no idea what I purchased where....

First, the fabrics.

That last one is a pattern pack, full of appliqued buildings, including churches and lighthouses.  A 64-page book with plus full-sized pattern sheets, and it was half off!  Almost everything was on sale.  I also got some batting for my Sand Pails quilt, I finally got the quilt top done and I can't WAIT to show you - Carrie sent me the vintage rick-rack for the handles, and they are finally stitched down!  Now if I can just find some time, do you think I have enough to do?  LOL!!!!!  Thanks for going on my adventure with me!

Oops, almost forgot - my sweet friend Pam sent me some vintage fabric.....

and I just started designing a new mini-quilt for the blue one!  Yippee!!!

Adventures

Hello everyone, long time no see!!!  I've been working hard and finally had a little adventure.  Thought I would share it with you, as it was quilt-related!  My friend Cathy and I have been talking for 5 years about visiting Michigan quilt shops, and we finally made a start last weekend.  I took 3 days off work, and she got off early on Friday, we made reservations at hotels, gassed up the car and off we went!

Our first stop was Mabelena's in Ortonville - what a GREAT shop.  The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the shop was well-stocked and sweetly decorated.

So very nice to let us take pics, too!  We did some damage to our wallets here.  We loved it.

The next stop was Linda's Country Quilt Shop in Davison, another GREAT shop.  Linda herself was there and was super nice, she showed us fabulous quilts made by local quilters!  The store had three large spaces for classes, very well stocked, and lots and lots of goodies.  This first pic is with Linda.

Here's Cathy on the porch, checking out her purchases....

After all that shopping, [and only a few hours of sleep as I had worked the night before] we headed off to Birch Run.  Checked into our motel, and went to dinner at Tony's Restaurant.  I was very pleased that the deal of the day was The Big Kahuna....

Hamburger with slices of ham, pineapple, and a sweet barbecue sauce - to die for!  Not on the menu, but every now and then Tony offers it up as a special, and it was my lucky day!  I could only eat half.  Tony makes a bacon cheeseburger that has a POUND of bacon on it.....not for the faint of heart.

Saturday, we headed off to Frankenmuth to the Front Porch Quilt Shop.

No pics of inside, as it was PACKED.  I didn't even bother to ask, lol.  It was so crowded in there I couldn't have gotten my camera out of my bag.  We did shop though, and managed to get out our wallets!  A very lovely quilt shop.  After that, we headed to Fenton, and The Quilter's Garden.  Yet another packed quilt shop, filled with goodies, and more wallet damage!  No pics of that one either, but trust me, it was lovely.

We were ready to drop, so headed to our hotel in Fenton, the Fairfield Inn.  Wow what a pretty room.

And very comfy beds.  Sunday, we headed back down to Lake Orion, and The Village Quilt Shoppe at Canterbury Village.

Really a lovely shop, with friendly folks, but it was the only one where we found nothing to buy!  Maybe we were beyond done at that point, lol.  From there, we headed to Joann Fabrics to pick up the last of what we needed [batting for me] and off to home.  It was a very fun weekend!

I'm off tomorrow [Sunday] so I'll take pics of my purchases to share with you.  I got some great stuff, and most of it was on sale, gotta love that!  I've been working 40+ hours per week, and boy did I need this weekend.  I never get two days off in a row, and it was quite a treat having three!  I'm ready for more mini-vacations!

See you tomorrow......or today.....I never get my days straight anymore, the curse of shift work!
