New Year’s Eve – a time to reflect back on the year, to celebrate its passing, and all you’ve accomplished [or not]. A time to resolve to do better, to make the new year a better one, to do things differently. That’s what this post is about.
So, in that spirit, how did your gift giving go this year? Were your gifts from the heart, finished on time, without stress? Were they stitched up and wrapped up with plenty of time for relaxing in front of the tree with your loved ones? Or were you like me......stitching up to the very last minute, frantically trying to remember who you forgot, and surfing for ideas at the 11th hour. If so, you might be interested in joining me in 2011!
Let's think about Christmas all year long. Starting January 5th, I’ll be doing a post every month. Except for January, it will be on the first of the month. I figure you need time to recuperate in January – I know I do. I’ll do a blog post every month, with links to gift idea tutorials, and a Christmas movie suggestion [to get you in the mood, you know]. I’ll add Mr. Linky to the post [and if anyone can help here, it would be appreciated] so you can add your blog name if you’d like to play along. We’ll be making ONE gift per month – if you make more, that’s excellent! Then, at the end of the year, if you play along every month, you’ll have at least 12 gifts completed.
There will be small give-aways each month. I can’t afford to buy for my give-aways, so it will be something I’ve made – and this is an open invitation to anyone who’d like to play along, if you’d like to do the give-away in any month that would be wonderful! But I will never pressure you to do that. Like I said, it will be small – maybe a fat quarter or a mug rug.
At the end of the month, you’ll have to post a picture of your gift you’ve made on your blog. So be careful who you make them for! By posting your finished gift, and letting me know, you’ll be entered into the give-away.
This bloggy club will remain open all year – if you want to do it that month, you’re in. If you skip a month, no problem. I’m doing this to help myself stay on track – so I have gifts on hand – instead of waiting until October or November or even December to start making gifts. In January, the year stretches out ahead of me, with plenty of time until next Christmas – but somehow, it shrinks and speeds by until I find myself at the last minute, giving up because I waited too long. By posting, perhaps we can help each other get more accomplished, and stay in the giving spirit all year long.
So come on back January 5th, and let’s see if we can’t get some things done in 2011 – and have some good fun along the way!
*If you'd like to add the button to your blog, just right-click the picture, save, and use the "add a gadget" on your dashboard. Choose "picture", then add the link to my blog. I don't know how to make a "real" button! *
Allie, this sounds like such a good idea. I'd like to join in. Grabbing your "button" (I think this is a great way to make a button ;) and placing it on my blog, www.flamingoks.com Thanks so much for a terrific idea.
Intriguing. I have to come back on the 5th. I too was sewing last minute - actually making a stocking for the son-in-law and finishing just before midnight so that Santa could fill it.
You have managed to get my interest here :) not that I dont enjoy reading your blog, cause I sure have it on my favs list! This is something I have been working on myself, since before Christmas. Most of the gifts I had to finish up in the last weeks before Christmas were started in May and the result was gifts that took thought and time and I was proud to give all handmade this year :) So, I will be here on the 5th for sure!

Happy New Year Allie! This sounds like a great idea! I've added your button to my sidebar.
What a great idea Allie. Check out the blog, Totally Tutorials if you need some ideas. I love that site!
Have a Happy New Year!
Happy New Year. Great idea. I'll be keeping my eye on your postings. Hugs,
This sounds like something that certainly could help me be more prepared next year than I was this year *blushing*

Happy New Year Allie, what a afntastic idea, great way to get cracking early on those pressies huh!
This is a fabulous idea, Allie -- and...since I have already started on one gift, I'm in! I'll be back on Jan 5.
Happy New Year, Allie. All my best to you and your sweet family.
Allie, thanks for commenting on my site. I tried to email you, too, but I'm getting a goofy error message stating that I don't have an internet connection...obviously, google isn't paying close attention to what I'm doing ;) Anyway, here's my email for you (firstname.lastname@example.org)
I love your idea!! A fantastic way to make sure everyone is enjoying the process instead of rushing just to finish.
Hi Allie! We're finally back from our Christmas trip down South...it was definitely an "interesting" time!
This is such a great idea and I'll be joining you, my friend! I need all the help, inspiration and motivation I can get!
Happy New Year to you and your family!
Great idea! I love to get my Christmas shopping/making done early so I can just play during Christmas.
I thought I had you on my blogroll all this time but I didn't...so I put you there this morning. I love the way you are so upbeat in your posts and in your comments to others! Keep being the 'sunshine' girlie! We need more Allie's out there.
I think this is a great way for me to have fun in this new year! I think you have come up with a great idea. I will be looking forward to the 5th....
Ok I'm in my friend just not sure if I can add the button you know me but I'll give it a go :)
I am definitely IN! This was a great idea, Allie! Now, to get my thinking cap on and start making my list and checking it twice! ;)
sounds such a good idea... I ahve already signed up for one that is doing the same .... I wonder if I can get 2 gifts a month done???? I will love reading yours though and having a look at what everyone is doing....
Allie, this is such a wonderful idea. I have popped your button on my sidebar and will be stitching along with you. :-)
I love this idea and I am in!!
Wonderful idea Allie.
Love your idea. Count me in.
What a great idea Miss Allie! I'm always stitching with high anxiety in December - rushing to get things done! This will be such fun!
It sounds like fun! Hmmm. I wonder if I could keep up... For sure I'll be checking your blog for ideas though!
Hello, I'm a new follower and would love to join in with the Christmas gift making year round.
I love this idea, Allie!!! I'm not sure I can get a gift a month done, but I like the idea of not having to, either. Count me in...at least sometimes. :)
What a great idea! I had just been thinking the same thing after a last minute panic this Christmas :-)
This sounds fantastic! Count me in!
Great idea!! I like the movie idea too. White Christmas is my favorite and 2010 is the first time in many many years that we did not watch it together as a family. We didnt' watch it at all. The only Christmas movies that we did watch were"Christmas with the Kranks" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" Kranks cracks me up!
I also would have liked to watch ELF and The Santa Clause but it just didnt' happen.
What!!?? No running around like a crazy person in November and December trying to get things DONE?? What fun is that?!! HA!! This is a great idea...maybe I'll participate in a couple!! You are so on top of it this year already girl!! xo
This sounds like a very good idea. Not sure I will make it every month, but I want to give it a try. Please count me in.
I have been following Cheryl's progress each month for this Christmas Throughout the Year and I want to join for 2012.
