What's Wrong With This Picture?

PICT013700002

This is my sewing table.  What?  You don't see a sewing machine?  Me either.  They're both in serious need of service.  Just as I get my sewing mojo back, too.  That means lots of handwork, so it's not all bad.

I've decided to upload some of my vintage hand embroidery patterns.  I have tons, and a lot of them are in a loose, cut pile, so I don't know what company they're from.  Some of them are in rough shape, they have to be traced, scanned and cleaned up.  I'm hoping to upload some every week, but tracing is rough on my neck, so don't hold your breath.  I am anxious to preserve them though, so it will get done.  Here are the first two.  If you click on the picture, it will take you to my flickr page, where you can click on "all sizes" and download the size you want.  From my blog page, you can right-click the picture and open it in a new tab or window, instead of clicking the back button.

Jenny has a new 4-month BOM starting July 1 called Daisy-Do.  It looks absolutely darling!  But then, everything she does is darling.  She's also having a clearing out sale in her etsy shop, if you've missed some of her patterns, the time to get them is now!  Have a lovely, productive and fun-filled week, everyone!

I'm Back!

Did ya miss me?  Cuz I sure missed you - well not really, I did keep up with all my blog reading, just not commenting, and I did miss that.  I missed the back and forth of blogging...the fellowship.   I had a good rest, and I feel better now, but I am making some changes.
Normally, I don't post all that much.  That won't change.  What will change will be the way I comment on your blogs - it won't happen with every post, like I was.  I just can't spend hours doing this anymore, I've been neglectful of my health and my family.  Blogging is just too enjoyable, lol!  You'll still hear from me frequently, and I will be reading all of your posts, but I have to cut back somewhere.  Emails may suffer a bit too, and I might not be able to reply to all of your comments.

So what did I do with my break??  Well, I got a couple of super nice packages in the mail, and I'm going to show them to you.  First, Clare from Clare's Craftroom had a give-away.  She's in Australia, and had two Aussie winners, and decided to award another prize to someone in another country.  She picked me, yippee!  It was for the most darling pattern, a bag called a Catchit, for all those things you don't know where to put.

She also sent two buttons to cover, and look at that darling little dress sticker.  Well folks, I loved the pattern so much I couldn't wait to make my own.....

Thank you Clare for giving me my sewing mojo back!  Isn't that the sweetest thing?  Here it is, hanging on the back of my chair, where it lives.

[The camera is crooked, not the chair.]  I love it so much, and can't wait to make lots more for gifts.  I'd love to have a whole wall with a row of hooks across, and a Catchit hanging from every hook.  Clare, you're a doll!

Then - be still my heart - I got a package from the lovely Dawn at As Sweet As Cinnamon blog.  [Formerly Dawn Hay Designs - I need to change her name on my blog roll.]  People, she made me a quilt.

Picture me hitting the floor.  How special is that?  Red and white.  POLKA DOTS.  Is this not too beautiful???  Dawn, you are the dearest - I love it SO much!  Here's where it lives in my sewing room...

I love that it's reflected in the mirror.  Excuse the messy cutting table.  She also sent some Australian wildflower fabric, and it's given me an idea - I'm going to study pics of Australian flowers and make up some stitcheries, and put them with this fabric.  And the sweetest smelling candles EVER, aren't they too darling?  AND extra fabric for making hanging loops for the quilt, since I will absolutely under no conditions allow it to set on a table, someone [me] might spill something on it.  It will live safely on my wall where I can look at it and love it all the time!  Thank you Dawn, you are the dearest!

Since Clare inspired me to get my sewing mojo back, I decided to also jump into a project by Dawn.  She had posted a darling design on her blog [still there, go get it!] and I fell in love with it.  I came across the perfect fabric I wanted for it in my stash, and made it last week - all it needs now is the quilting and binding.

She created it as a tribute to Jessica Watson, and it reminds me of her and Abby Sunderland.  Jessica made her dream come true, and Abby didn't yet - but I know she'll make it next time.  My dreams have always involved sailing, so this pattern was just perfection waiting for me to make it mine.  Thank you Dawn for such a great pattern!

And now, hoping you've made it this far, I'd love for you to go over to Terri's blog, and wish her a very happy birthday.  It's today, and she got a great birthday present that I hope will get her blogging more often!  She's a precious friend that I met on a yahoo embroidery group, and had the pleasure to meet in real life when she and her hubby came up for a visit.  I wish you all could meet her too - she's the most cheerful, down-to-earth, sweetest person ever.

Have a wonderful week everyone, I'll see you on the blogroll!

Break Time

Hello friends - I'm going to take a bit of a bloggy break.  A break from posting, and a break from commenting.  My computer time has gotten a bit overwhelming, and I'm having some serious fatigue...fibro-related, I think.  So I'll take a couple of weeks off, and hopefully regain my energy, and the creative juices will start flowing again.  And maybe my family will remember my name.....see you when I get back!
