Ta-da! My new curtain.
This is from this pattern, sent to me by the lovely Bell. I opted to not do a full quilt, but only something to cover the bottom half of my window.
Pictures are always clickable for a closer look. Oh spellcheck doesn't like "clickable". Or even "spellcheck".
I am seriously smitten with this. I also opted to not do the cornerstones, as my piecing skills have deteriorated over time. I wish the colors were truer - these are repro '30's pink fabrics. I probably could have just used two rows, as I move the curtain down for daytime, but I love it. The more daisies the better, I say.
The other day I got some hugs in the mail. ROYAL mail.
These colours are not true either - the actual wristwarmers are MUCH richer looking.
The lovely Midge from Soggibottom made these and sent them to me. Honestly, they're like wearing a hug - they are the softest wool, in the most mouth-watering colors. They come almost to my elbow and keep me SO warm! Now my fingers don't go numb while I'm blogging, and you know that's important! Thank you darling Midge, they are getting a workout for sure!
Look, I can hold a mug with them.
I can type with them!
Egads please don't look at the filthy keyboard! Darn that maid, she's fired. Go check out Midge's blog, she has a new free pattern for the sweetest stuffie bunny you've ever seen.
Is anyone else having a hard time getting motivated this year? I am. I'm seeing all kinds of terrific stuff that you've all been doing, and I'm only a little bit tempted to join in. I'm not sure what I want to do - draw, design, stitch [I have been doing stitcheries - in the evening], break out the quilt books and try something new, I just don't know. I have a gazillion ideas for quilt designs, and just the thought of putting them to fabric makes me tired. I guess I'll just not worry about it, and relax, and watch lots of dvd's and listen to audiobooks while I mindlessly stitch. After all, it doesn't get much better than that, does it!

Oh hi Allie - I love the curtain it's so happy and cheerful (so Allie-Oops Sweet Happy Life)*grin* Those wrist warmers look fabulous and oh so cozy. I'm sure they help a lot. I just posted my first finish of 2010, but feel like I kinda' cheated since it was pretty much done in 2009, except the binding. Oh well - I too am overwhelmed with unfinished projects and managed to start two more a couple of weekends ago at our quilting weekend. It's just so much fun to work on something new, but I know that I seriously need to get cracking and finish some of them...someday.
Allie, I love the curtains, the color of them also. My kitchen I moved from last year was tangerine. It would have hung well in my kitchen!
I love your curtain. The daisies are a perfect touch.
omg, those are seriously the coolest curtains! Please don't change a thing about them. And those wrist warmers are the best ever. I think maybe we all have had a bit of quilt stagnation, and look at you, you've helped us over that hurdle. Now we can all get back to it, k? I bought some reds today, some for Jeanette and then I want to do a red and white mini quilt. I am thinking a mini is just what I need to spur my creativty into full drive...lets hope. Thank you so much for sharing, your curtains are really beautiful. Big hugs of gratitude, Elaine
My word is inicknes...lol!
The curtain is gorgeous. Can you come to my house? I need to make something to go at the top of windows in my bedroom since the bottom half is covered with my new bed. I have lots of ideas and I have to say that I have only finished one thing but I am trying for 30 minutes a day in the sewing room. I sure do wish you could come and help me with this embroidery. I am determined to get it though.
I love the curtain! Those daisies are so cute and the fabrics are precious, too! I think the weather has us all in a bit of a slow-down... When the sun comes back and warms things up, the creative juices will flow! (that is my prediction, anyway....)
Cute cute cute! The colors are nice and fresh - and the daisies are perfect!
Love the curtain! Well done! :0)
Allie fantastic curtain, you really have done an awesome job....he hugs are amazing as well...
Allie that is the cutest curtain ever...so happy!
What a cute curtain! I thought it was a quilt at first glance. And I LOVE those wrist warmers. I bet you never want to take them off!
I'm not motivated to sew much right now, either. I actually made one quilt this year and didn't photograph it before I sent it back to school with our daughter. There are just so many fun hobbies to pursue that it is hard to know which one to pursue when!
Your curtain is looks beautiful Allie.
I see you have very artistic long fingers.
x x x Midge
Your curtain is amazing! I want to do something like this as well now, thanks.
Your curtains look so wonderful. They certainly are bright and cheery, and will really help when the weather is dreary.
My maid keeps my keyboard as clean as yours does.
The wrist warmers also look great. Warm and cozy.
I haven't had my first finish yet this month, but hopefully I can by the end of the month.
Your curtain turned out darling! I agree, the more daisy's the better!!! I have joined in a couple of things this year, but am having a difficult time getting motivated too. It's the winter doldrums!
Your curtain is so nice. I love the stitching on the flower petals. I love your wool fingerless mittens too. That is such a nice gift.
i am not motivated at ALL!
lovely curtain and hand warmers!
you are so very talented.
how bout that cuppa?? {smile}
The shower curtain is cute as can be. It may be the only project you've finished this month, but it is FINISHED! Good for you.
Oh Allie I love your curtain, so happy and fresh looking. don't worry about not knowing what to make or do, it will come to you in time. Probably once the awful cold has disappeared.
The curtain turned out so well, Allie -- I love that cute pattern and the fabrics you chose. I haven't made curtains for years, but you are inspiring me to make some for my sewing room. The hand warmers are wonderful -- what a sweet gift.
You should take it easy, Allie -- doing a little stitchery while thinking up bigger projects is part of the creative process. Don't be too hard on yourself.
Allie, that turned out so nice. I really like it and the bright colours. Nice fingerless gloves there. I have wanted to make some but I always tense up when I knit - it is not really a relaxing thing for me to do.
You know in the first photo the curtain fabric looks more melon than pink. But in the photo of you holding the mug, you can see the pink in the upper right corner. I love the daisies. Very nice!
The curtain is just soooo!! happy looking. It would make me smile just to walk into the room. My mother would have said "with long fingers like that, she should have been a concert pianist".
I love your cheery curtains! That is so cute and would make anyone's day brighter :)
Awesome mittens! Lovely gift and so thoughtful.
One day I'll have a pretty little curtain that cheers me up everytime I look at it...or I can just copy this picture and use it as my laptop wallpaper!! :D It is BEAUTIFUL!! And I REALLY want some wrist warmers like that!! Maybe I'll make some...one day!! I am seeing the end of the FUNK...as I've been calling it!! I hope it ends soooooooooonnnn!!! The sun was out today, and it was in the 70s...maybe I'll start thinking Spring!! :)
Allie, your new curtains are so cute! What a happy sight when you go into your quilt studio. I think you did a great job!
Your hugs look good too. That reminds me, I have some too. I need to get them out and use them!
I'm not very motivated either. It doesn't help that I spent 2 weeks of the month in Nevada, and the last week trying to catch up. As well as having an icky cold. But I did get some things cut the other night so they're ready to go. Just need to actually get in there and DO IT! Is getting started the hardest part??
Love that curtain! You go girl! I ya know I want those wrist warmers too. I could really use those.
I have a couple of "finishes" this year already, but hit a road block with my quilt and it has me in a tailspin and very unmotivated now.
If you only had to do one project, you picked the right one...too cute. I think it is great. So cheerful. AND I love your wrist warmers...perfect for the time of year.
One quilt per month works for me. Cute curtain, those daisies are so cheerful!
Hi Allie, beautiful curtain, it will certainly cheer your days.Loving the mittens too and you know what they say about warm hands ...
Warm Heart....cheers
Oh Allie, that curtain is fabulous and so cheery too. Seeing that will always make you smile for sure. And you got matching "hugs" Those hand warmers are great.
That daisy curtain is so bright and cheerful! I love the orange-peach-tangerine color! If I got color-coordinated I'm sure I could use up some of my 3.5 inch squares I have... The daisy really pulls it all together!
Your curtain is just beautiful! It looks so cheerful and fun. I like you mail also. :)
Curtain looks great, Allie. I like applique on top of the four patch. Lucky you, I sure can use a pair of wrist warmers like that! My keyboard is dirtier than your keyboard! LOL!
Allie the curtain is so pretty and springy. then hand warmers are awesome. I am also having trouble getting motivated lol I think it is just nice to sit sometimes. :)
You clever girl!! That curtain is gorgeous!!! You are such a whizz on the machine...I need you to come work your machine magic here on my quilts. I'll hand stitch and you machine stitch and between us we'll make magical wonders. :-)
Mmmmm...praise God for the gift of the gloves!! \o/ Exactly what you needed, sweetheart.
love your curtain Allie!!!
That quilt is amazing Allie and love the mitts!!!! You are precious!!!xoxox Jennifer

love the curtain! What a great way to put a quilt to use :)
Your new arm warmers are adorable! They look so warm and soft and cozy! I've got a pattern and some yarn to make a pair for myself...might be my next project
I've been feeling super unmotivated lately...I blame it on the winter blues
Oh my gosh, I love those curtains. Can I win them too!! I LOVE THEM!
Hello Allie, love your curtain...tremendous job you have done.....my motivation as slipped over the last couple of weeks...Warm Regards Lyn
