New Neighbor

I had quite a treat today.  I was putting together a small quilt, lost the plot and made hst's instead of pinwheels - the border was already cut and the pinwheels were going to be the cornerstones.  I set it aside to regroup, looked out the window, and I'm so glad!!!

I had noticed this doe laying near the bushes all morning, and was sort of keeping an eye on her, hoping she wasn't in distress.

Pretty soon, she got up and came closer, to our peach [or is it pear] tree.

City girl that I am, I couldn't figure out why she kept her head at her back end.

She was in labor!!!!

Suddenly, there were two!!!!

And they trotted happily off to the woods.

Then I realized - if I had kept the plot, and made the pinwheels like I had designed, I would have missed this whole thing.  I would have been so focused on my quilt, I never would have looked up.  What a shame that would have been.  Thank you Lord, for this precious gift!

I pray the Lord gives you gifts today too - don't forget to look for them!

Love,
Allie

What a great moment! Bob Ross (from PBS painting fame) used to have a sweet saying about happy little accidents...wish I could remember the exact quote, but he came to mind when I read your story. Such a beautiful sentiment. Happy weekend, dear friend.

How sweet. The doe in the bushes reminded me of up north. Up at Dad's the deer would come in at night and sleep under the big pine trees he had on the property. The biggest pleasure was when the does had babies. Hugs

How perfect! Isn't God good with how He orchestrates things, if only we stop and 'listen'.
I love living "in" nature - each day is new and special.

Oh that is just so amazing!! So now, if you don't have a name for the quilt you were working on, maybe you can call it 'Doe, a Deer' !! :)

Wow! I am so glad you were able to witness that. So much better than watching a giraffe being born online in an enclosed room.

What a story! So awsome she choose your back yard to give birth. She must have known it is a safe place!

A true moment to be grateful for. We used to see deer in our yard a couple times a year until they built a subdivision in the wooded area they came from. I never saw a birth though. It's one of those moments that is a precious memory. Someone told me once I should make a quilt depicting mine. I'm thinking about that.

So many things in life are that way! We think something is bad or frustrating, and if we look at it in a different light, we see that a great blessing came with it. Thank you for sharing this. How terrific!
