Good Thing....

we don't have to get a quilting license, because the powers that be would take mine away!  I'm full of "oops" moments lately.

Today, I finished the applique on the top part of my little wall hanging -

And started on the wording.  Of course, I forgot to reverse my template - already fixed in the pattern, but I used an earlier print-out.  I must do that at least once per pattern.

Look at that, plain as day, of course those letters aren't reversed.  I need to hang a sign in here somewhere that says "Applique  - Please Reverse Template".  In great big screaming red letters.

And then, while I was cutting a piece of fabric to get a 2-inch square, with scissors mind you, not a rotary cutter - my finger got in the way.  I could not get it to stop bleeding, I had to use a band-aid as a tourniquet.

I haven't cut myself with scissors since I was a toddler.  Maybe I've reached the age where I'm regressing.  Naturally, when I first felt those scissors cutting my flesh, I didn't open them...oh no....I closed them harder.  See what I mean about getting my quilt license revoked?  I don't even drink.  I don't need to!

I'll try again tomorrow....I think a nice hot cup of coffee and a movie are in order.

Love,
Allie

ps - the pattern will be a freebie soon as it's done, provided I survive the process!

Oh my, your poor finger! Sometimes ... when things start to go awry ... it becomes clear very quickly nothing, henceforth, will go right :D We've all been there! Best to take 10 or 20 steps backwards - right out of the sewing room, lol!

Where does one get a 5 1/4y package of Heat 'n Bond?! I just ordered 3 packs on Amazon (my fabric store had their packs on sale for half price, but Amazon was still cheaper!) - each one is 1 1/4yard. I haven't seen big packages like that!

I have days like that, too many of them, lol.
I always have to repeat it to myself, reverse the appliqué when I am using fusible.

I have nipped myself many times with sharp scissors and those type cuts bleed a lot.
You use such sweet looking fabrics in your designs.

Super Klutz here - seems like every other time I get scissors, knives, etc. out I wind up cutting myself, so don't feel alone. Love the design! So pretty fabrics and colors - can't wait!

That's one reason I don't do much applique. I never can remember to reverse. Ouch! I hope you are doing okay. That can be so painful!

Ouch! And really so easy to do with these super sharp scissors these days.

Cute little flower pot, Allie! Looking forward to the pattern coming out soon. It's the perfect mindless kind of stitching project that I need now.

Oh Allie, you're not alone, I was pressing some fabric yesterday, you know really pressing, holding the iron down hard for a few seconds, I got my fingers in the way, yelp!!! Your appliqué is looking great in spite of the set backs! hope you have a lovely weekend. X

Well, I certainly hope you survive the process! I would miss you terribly. I love the fabrics you chose. You and Jenny always choose such happy fabrics. I don't know why I can never find those in my stash. =) I look forward to seeing the rest of the applique, but this part all by itself is just perfectly wonderful! I'm so sorry about your poor finger!

Glad you weren't using your rotary cutter. It looks like you drew a lot of blood. Your applique is so cute and you used the perfect fabric for the vase....love it.

Ooh Allie. Sorry about all these mishaps. I have a tendency to forget to reverse too - I have learned that I don't have to reverse if I trace the pattern on the correct (ruled) side of the fusible, I am fine. That applique is gorgeous!

Isn't it funny how we just have those days where things go a bit wrong. Your stitchery is so pretty, such happy flowers and the vase fabric is perfect.
