Home Again

I went to my aunt's last weekend, to spend four days while she was in Atlanta - I took lots of hand stitching and hardly accomplished anything.  I'm going to blame her cat.

Because, really, what's she going to do about it?  *G*

I did go to Joann's for their Memorial Day mega-sale, all I bought was embroidery floss -

90 skeins.

Doesn't really look like much, does it?  I mean, pretty pile and all that, but it all fit in a tiny little bag.  I'll have fun winding them all on cards.

Saturday I got the call every parent dreads, although both boys were ok.  Sam totaled his car.

I'm not sure why they totaled it, unless the frame is bent - the insurance people came out today.  I'm going to have my brother look at it and see if it's salvageable.  He hasn't had that car very long!  But, both boys are ok, and that's what counts.

On Sunday, we went to my mum's, it was my brother's birthday.  My little brother is 45 years old!  I'm not putting his pic up, he hates having it taken and he doesn't want to be on the internet....so here's mum after cake and ice cream.

I'm awfully behind in emails and blogs.  I'll have to try to catch up before I go away again this weekend.  I'm not getting a lot of stitching done....but it IS summer, and I'll have all winter for that, right?  Summer speeds by in a blink, but winter is 9 months long.

See you soon....

Glad the kids are ok, our son was involved in a bad accident where the drive died, but he walked away without a scratch. I am not getting a lot done either, to much to do with summer coming and we were stuck in the house too long this winter;)

Oh my - I'm glad the boys are OK - too bad about the car - ouch! Both of my kids have had rather substantial accidents - nobody was hurt but their vehicles were definitely injured! And so were their wallets when their insurance went up :D

90 skeins of embroidery floss - I remember those days! I bought 32y of fabric @ Joanns in Buffalo on Saturday - I positively beamed coming back across the border (especially since I didn't have to pay any duty) :D

Kitty says ... "Don't blame the cat!" :)

Blame it on the cat, that is so not fair! I am glad your kids were ok after the crash.

I am just so glad the boys are ok. Our daughter has recently started driving and that is one thing I dread happening. The car may be salvagable if you can get a cheaper quote, Hubby did that with his van after it was written off and managed to do it cheaper using pattern parts. Glad you had a nice break, it looks as though you have enough silks to keep you busy for months :-)

Was that being careful, thrifty, or stocking up on all the shades not in your collection? Sale time is the right time to go shopping, wish that the fabrics (batiks) I like were on sale sometimes. Beautiful, I can see some serious stitching coming to our eyes. Love the cat too.

Yes, I would HATE getting a call like that! So happy the boys are fine... the car can be replaced..the boys can't! Hugs all round! The threads are lovely!

Welcome home! So sorry about the accident but grateful the boys are okay. My son is a grown man and I still worry about him driving. :( Sounds like you need some embroidery-therapy. Go at it! Your thread looks lovely!
hugs, Mickie

So glad the boys are okay! what are you going to do with all that floss? I have a lifetime supply from my earlier days cross stitching, then an older neighbor sent me all hers! Rarely do I have to pick up a color to finish a project. Have fun stitching with it!

In our experience, when an insurance company totals the car, you don't get the option of taking the money and keeping the car. They take title to the car and send it to auction.

It is always so pretty to see nice new skeins of embroidery floss all piled together. The colors just seem to look good with each other. And that is probably because you are selecting colors you like.

Oh yeah, I've gotten that call too. Scary! But everyone was fine - just not the car. Glad your boys are A-OK.

Nice haul - tiny but mighty!

I say go ahead and blame the cat! *grin*

Scary moments for a parent alright, glad to hear the boys got off a lot better than the car. Sounds like you're having great family time at the moment, no wonder there's no time for hand work. Love the pic of the cat - and your lovely pile of threads!

Its so good your boys are okay, it's definitely the call that people dread. What a mega pile of embroidery threads, they look like a tossed salad. Happy birthday to your brother. It's a lovely photo of your mum.

I agree with your assessment of winter/summer :) Seems like a lot of us are having trouble blogging and stitching - must be that time of year :)
