Summer

DSC06028    2

It'll be official soon, that summer is here.  In Michigan, our forecast is for temps in the 90's for at least the next 7 days.  I know the flowers have been blooming for awhile, the trees have been green, and yet I feel like I'm missing it all.

I've been concentrating on getting projects done.  Lining up what's next.  Sorting.  Organizing.  And do you know what?  I'm burned out.

Oh, it's not that I don't want to sew - I do.  And I love the projects I'm working on. It's more that summer is here, and it may as well not be.  I'm spending too much time indoors, playing with fabric, and summer is too short for that.

So I'm going to take a break.  I'm going to go outside, take some pictures, and take my sketchpad with me.  I'm not going to blog, I'm not going to comment [but I might!] and I'm going to go breathe some fresh air.  HOT air, to be sure...

I need to work on some of the designs in my head.  It's been months since I've shared anything with you.  I need to get the creative juices flowing, while the sun is shining, before the grey days come back.  I need inspiration, and summer is the perfect place to find it.  I live for summer.

So, for the next couple of weeks, it'll be quiet here in Allie-land.  Behind the scenes will be frantic activity, I hope - sketching, erasing, sketching some more, much time spent in that happy place of creation, making figurative hay while the sun shines.  I'll see you soon, be well, be happy....

Allie, enjoy your break.

Any time you need summer I'll be very happy to share. It's 10:00pm here and the temp is 95 degrees - way too hot.

Enjoy your break Allie! I can't believe June is half over already! And I can't believe how hot it's going to be for the next 10 days! I'll wait until this round of heat passes to go outdoors! LOL

Oh yes! I agree so much. Some days the only 'suntime' I get is the 3 block to the bank and back! Bless You!

I'll miss you but since I live in Michigan too I certainly understand your desire to take advantage of our all too short beautiful weather. It is really hard for me to sew too when I feel the sunshine and warm weather calling me outside. Take care and enjoy the summer. Hugs to you!

Lovely photos. I hope you have a nice comfy seat outside to do your sketching and don't forget - not too much sun. Got a nice big hat? If not, it's a great excuse to go shopping for one.

I need to get away from distractions, lol.
For now I just make things and have fun, but I do miss creating my own patterns.

Good for you Allie! I have not been posting at all this week and spending less time visiting bloggy friends also. Cut up a flat of strawberries today and have been doing some hand stitching. Have great fun with your sketching and take time to smell the roses! P.S. I am drinking chickweed tea as I comment.

Enjoy your break! But keep the heat where it is, we're quite comfortable here the past few days. I know what you mean about missing out on summer. we're trying to fit in a few more summery activities this year to make up for last year. Relax. Breathe. Create.

Definitely go out and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of Summer. Before long it will be gone. The projects can wait.

For me it is time to hibernate lol. It is too hot down here in Florida to be outside during the day. I do love sitting outside in the early hours and late evening though. We're kind of backwards-we stay in during the Summer and when Winter comes you can see the neighborhoods come alive.

Enjoy!!

Summer is definitely the time to do that! I look forward to the new ideas that come pouring out after your hiatus! Take some time to simply enjoy being. =)

Yes, I am keen for summer to come back, but got to have winter to be able to appreciate the beauty of summer.

Have fun on your break. I've been taking breaks, too. We have had so little rain, my yard already looks like it's August, even though it's not too hot yet!

Enjoy your break. I just took a week off and went to Vegas. Temps in the 100's but no humidity. The humidity here is high. Hugs

Good for you Allie, just promise you will be back! I'd be tempted to do the same with a summer like that, but with our cold, wet, windy summer I'd rather be indoors sewing!

You sound like me. I'm fried at this point and want to do the same. Love LOVE that flower you have a photo of (what is that anyway?--I mean the pink one). Hugs and have lots of fun and relaxation!

Beautiful flowers. Our temps are very mild this year. Only high 80. I'm used to being in the 100's.

Its so wet, stormy and dark here that I have the lights on in the middle of the day! Ahh...I might have to just look at these pictures a while and pretend its not cold and wintery outside!! :)
