May The 4th Be With You

DSC05600    2

Happy National Star Wars Day!

Not a lot going on here in Allie-land.  Slowly stitching, reading lots of good books, reading lots of good blogs *G*, not much else new.  I was scrounging through my fabrics and found some quilt blocks I had started, from Gwen Marston...the quilt is called Sand Pails.  I had stopped production when I realized I didn't know how I wanted to do the handles of the sand pails.  I pulled them out, and tried some rick-rack that Carrie had sent me....what do you think?

I LOVE it.  I'm going to do them all with rick-rack.  And it's pretty quick stitching it on by hand!  I spent the morning cutting the rest of the backgrounds for the pails.

The rain has stopped, and the sun has appeared, a lovely evening here.  There was a lot of flooding to our north.  I hope all my Michigan friends are dry.  I'm going to go sit and do nothing, we went out to eat this evening and I'm stuffed.....doesn't this look good?

If you're ever in the Livonia, MI area, Leo's Coney Island is on the southeast corner of 8 Mile and Farmington roads - next to Jimmy John's.  The Greek salad is wonderful!

I hope you all have a very yummy weekend!

Sounds like you are enjoying your day. I think we all have days when it's good to just lay around and do nothing. I love that you found those projects. I'm guilty of that too. In fact my daughter was just after me about ALL my project boxes and can't understand why I just don't finish them. Needless to say, she's not a quilter.

Your day sounds good to me Allie! I love the Star Wars Leggos, LOL. Your baskets look delightful with the rick rack handles, what a great idea! And hey...I sitting here sipping a smoothie, it's home made, delicious and very healthy, but then you post this yummy sandwich and talk about Greek Salad...not fair, not fair, LOL. Sending you big hugs sweet friend...

I've never eaten at Jimmie Johns, but a guy in our neighborhood owns one locally. Is it good?? Very cool Legos.

The rick rack is perfect. Thin enough to really look like pail handles.

May the 4th be with you too! Love the Legos picture. My oldest son has a large collection of Star Wars Legos.

Love your sand pails! The rick rack looks great - and fun!

I used to live in Livonia, back in the Dark Ages - or maybe when dinosaurs roamed the Earth! LOL

I think the ric-rac is a fabulous solution for the sand pail handles, and what fun blocks! I love the play on words and the star wars Lego set up, lol. It is nice that you're relaxing and doing things you enjoy. I'm trying to break out of a little bit of a rut - this happens every year when the oppressive heat and humidity start taking over. I'll be better as soon as I stop feeling trapped and accept my fate for the next five months :)

How could I miss national Star Wars day? Can't go wrong if you're looking for an old favourite to sew with.

Ric rac is just perfect. Looks like a fun and easy block. You will be needing sand pails soon with the weather warming up.

Is that huge sandwich a turkey blt? or something like that? I really miss crispy American style bacon. Still, probably better for me in the long run...

I love the rickrack but them I am a rick rack fan . That sandwich looks incredible :-) Enjoy your day.

Nope, not National Star Wars Day, it's International Allie! Love that cute little scene, have you been playing with Lego then??

Love the buckets, ric-rack and all! We have had bunches of storms this side of the state and our basement that usually floods with the heavy rains is dry :) Hubby is perplexed, I don't care how it happened, just nice it did!lol Your sandwich looks so yummy! Guess I better get in and eat breakfast. Have a great day Allie!

Loved that Star Wars photo! Anytime I get a laugh AND a picture of a good sandwich, the visit has been more than worthwhile. Thanks, Allie!

Of course I didn't know it was Star Wars day until my kids told me lol.

Your pails are cute.

Your sandwich looks yummy! Turkey clubs have always been a favorite of mine (at least that is what your sandwich looks like). It was always my go to sandwich when we went out.

The rick rack is a great idea, Allie! A lot easier than regular applique. I'm going to use that idea sometime.

Star Wars Legos are AWESOME!!!!! Made my whole night just seeing that photo!!!

My grandsons would love the Star Wars Legos! I love RickRack on most anything, I just added some to a couple of aprons. It is perfect as handles on your pails. Sorry to say I did not stay dry today. Went to oldest grandson's soccer game, managed not to get sopping wet but was plenty damp. Drove to G.R. in the rain but the trip brought me to a quilt shop so I was plenty happy about that. Have a great weekend!

OOOh it does look delicious.

Love the rick rack! You won't believe it but I've been collecting fabrics for a pail quilt too!. Is Gwen's the one with the shovel too? I'm too tired to look for the book but the lady used panels for her pails (say that three times fast)and I fell in love with it. Anyway, glad you are doing okay! Hugs and hugs,
Mickie

When I finally get to Michigan we'll go to Coney Island, wooooooohoooooooooooo!!

I think all sandpails should have ric rac handles - it makes them even more fun :D
