*crickets*

Hi everyone, I'm going to be kind of quiet on your blogs for a bit....because, *drum roll*, I finished the quilting on the green quilt!  And I'm stitching down the binding!!!

And my hands and shoulders are killing me!  Oh wait, that doesn't need an exclamation point.  Look at the gorgeous vintage sheet I found to go on the back....

It matches the colors in the embroidery PERFECTLY.  I'm sorry these pics are so bad, even though I was directly in the window and it was sunny, it was late afternoon.

So, until I'm done stitching down the binding, I'm going to be typing as little as possible.  When I finished the quilting last night, I tried to answer some emails, and I couldn't feel my fingers, lol!  But I got the quilt done.  It was difficult to dance quietly - it was 4am and I didn't want to wake anyone.  But dance I did.

My tree outside my window is making me so happy, it has blooms.  Remember the barkcloth I found at the thrift store, and made curtains out of?  Hard to tell in this pic, but it's the same pink as the flowers in my tree!

The blooms on that tree are the first thing I see in the morning, and a herald of spring - I love spring - I think that's the reason I've not gotten tired of these curtains, they've been up much longer than any others I've had.  They remind me of my tree all year long.

More tree, on an absolutely gorgeous [but blustery] spring day.

I've had some company while I stitch.  We have mourning doves nesting in our evergreen out front, and the male [I think it's the male] sits on the porch roof all the time and talks to me.  Not a great pic, it's through the glass with a reflection.

I love the way they sound.  It's so good to hear the birds again.  Hello earth, so glad to see you waking up!  Let's play!

I'll chat with you all soon on your blogs, I don't think it will take more than a couple of days to finish the binding.  I've almost got one side done already this evening!

Some flowers at my mom's.

See ya soon!

I love your quilt and your incredible idea: hair pin (these is the name?) instead of pins...

Hip, hip, horray!!!! You finished the "green monster"! :o) And you are so right...that sheet is the perfect match for the quilt. The stitching on the front looks so pretty, you're going to have to show us the whole thing once you've completed the binding!

What gorgeous photos of your beautiful tree...and against that glorious blue sky....sigh! Don't you just love God's handiwork? And Mourning Doves are so sweet...I love to hear them, too. Did you know that they are one species of bird that mates for life?

Okay, take it easy and rest a lot in between bouts of sewing. You're on the home stretch...it will get done!

XOXO,

Cyndi

Your vintage sheet quilt backing is so pretty. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product

Now tell me... did you plan that your curtains would match your beautiful tree? Yes or no, it is neat to have that blend.

And your nesting doves... a pair are establishing their nest in the fence beneath the lemon tree beside my longarm corner. Their cooing is quite companionable for this pet-less quilter. When I hear them cooing, I'll think of you quilting away with your dove friends nearby. :-)

Blessings!

Perfect quilt backing, and your view? I need to come see it in person. ;-)

Oh Allie! That vintage sheet IS perfect (I remember having sheets like those on my bed - lol). You must be thrilled to be on the home stretch with that quilt. I can't wait to see the finished masterpiece :) So happy that Spring has sprung up your way, and the colors are beautiful - we have a lot of brown down here because of the intense heat and lack of rain; however my orchids are providing me with bits of color here and there as they bloom. Hopefully you can take breaks from the hand sewing to get outside and take a walk while it is so beautiful out.

I love that you hand-quilted it, even though it's a strain on the fingers. What a pretty quilt and perfect backing for it. I, too, love mourning doves! This is the first place I've lived where I haven't had any. They were at the apartment, but I don't know how to lure any over here. There are certainly enough trees! Hope your binding goes quickly!

Your quilt is looking great! I love the look of hand quilting. I actually have one going but it's slow. Your curtain fabric is a great match, almost like you planned it that way. Did you?

Looks lovely! And the only way I could like my blooming crabapples more is if I had your curtains to go with them. Good luck on the binding -- can't wait to see the ta-da!!

Congratulations on your big finish! Yay! I hope your arms/hands/shoulders are feeling better soon. What a marathon job, eh? I love the sheet on the back - great match!

Your tree is beautiful! I noticed yesterday that my camillia is blooming after 2 years! I was afraid the ice storm we had damaged it. So good to see those blooms.
