Not Much, How About You?

Well, it looks like spring, and last week it felt like summer....

But now we're back to freezing.  I'm still working hard on the green quilt, I got nothing done on it last week because it was far too warm to hold it in my lap.  This week, it's keeping me warm!

I wanted to share a product I won from Kelly at I Have A Notion, last December.  I gave it to my mum, but recently borrowed it for quilting.  It's the Beam N Read light and WOW is it wonderful.

It has two settings, one for 3 lights, and one for 6 lights.  I've been using the 3 light setting on the lighthouse quilt, which is navy thread on navy waves on a navy background....this one....

and believe it or not, with the Beam N Read, I can actually see the waves without being in the sunlight!  I can even quilt this at night.  Amazing.  Kelly has an online store where you can get it, and her customer service can't be beat.  She also has a great blog where she reviews products and more, she's the most upbeat, wonderful person.  Her store is HERE.  If you struggle to get enough light on your hand work, you need the Beam N Read!

I've also joined a mini-challenge that Kelly is doing.  It's called Bling Your Thing, and I'm having fun with it!  Although I'm having a hard time coming up with THE idea - I've come up with four so far, now to pick one, lol.  I'm using a crystal applicator and crystals that I bought about 5 years ago and never tried.

So I'm actually busy, working on various things, but nothing to show.  I've also been trying to draw up some things, but seem to be in a very dry spot creatively.  Maybe I need a finish or two first.  I hope to have something to show you soon, besides foliage, lol!

Allie,
Those trees are gorgeous! I was in North Carolina over the weekend and the Dogwood trees were awesome!
Hopefully, it will warm up for good soon.
Take care,
Susan

I saw that there are clip on magnifiers. Did you try that? I wonder how long you can use the light with the four batteries it uses.

Everything is blooming here too. I am worried that we will have a cold blast...It seems that you have been busy. Your nautical quilt is so cute, I love it.

Isn't this weather nuts? It's supposed to freeze tonight, and everybody is covering their flowers. I'm worried about the trees! I love your green quilt! I didn't quilt at all last week for the same reason. Just didn't want that warmth on my lap... 85 degrees one day!

Our trees are blooming, too. It's just been great. I am sorry you're in a "dry spell." It'll come back! When it's ready, right?

I have every confidence that you'll Bling Your Thing with creativity and aplomb!!! ;)

Shall we send you some of the snow we're expecting tomorrow? I find it hard to believe we'll actually get any in view of the heat wave we had for a while, but spring has only JUST arrived so we shouldn't be surprised at getting actual spring weather, LOL!

It is so true, I'm freezing here too! Thanks Allie for the kind comments.

I call the Beam N Read "the notion you didn't know you couldn't live without until you have one." LOL

BTW...the batteries last a long, long, long time...I've still not had to replace mine :)

Smiles,
Kelly

LOVE the Lighthouse quilt!! We had Florida in New Hampshire last week, for the last three days the furnance has run non-stop. I am so ready for it to be warmer-because I don't think it actually gets hot here...lol!!

Beautiful spring photos. It got chilly here last night.

Hi Allie. My question is 'doesn't the beam and read' thingy get hot around your neck? I've seen similar things in magazines and have always wondered? My eyes are not like they used to be so I went to Lidl and bought an LED table lamp for my machines. It's okay but the light is just focused on one small area. Still can't complain. Keep up with the hand quilting on the green quilt. Looking good girl, looking good!

Your trees are stunning. Hope you don't get that hard freeze. The trees are beautiful on this side of the state too. Hope they stay that way. Love your green quilt. Looking forward to seeing your "bling thing."

Wonderful spring pictures! Here in E. TN, we're all bloomed out, mostly. I noticed today when I went to the cannery that there are sections of Knoxville that are still blooming the way my neighborhood did two weeks ago. Isn't that odd?

Love your lighthouse quilt! You did a very nice endorsement of that light, and I am going to look for one. I could even use it to read my Kindle in bed and not have to get up to turn out the overhead light!

Spring in Michigan looks GORGEOUS!! As do your quilts!! I will be starting on a memory quilt soon for my cousin from her late daughter's tee shirts, so I will be hitting you up with TONS of questions!! But first I have to clean and organize my sewing room....AGAIN!! I would save so much time if I just kept it neat to begin with huh??!! HA!! xo

Beautiful pictures! I have been enjoying our weather very much! I've spent a lot more time outside since my computer crashed a while back and the weather was very conducive to sitting on the porch reading! Hate to see it getting colder again!

Isn't this weather crazy? I think I need one of those lights for my stitching! :0)

Thanks for the beautiful photos! We're not that far along - the lilac and the hydrangea are just starting to show some tiny leaves. And it's sloooowly getting warmer here - highs in the 40's and 50's now. We hit 60 one day! So, no urge to garden yet.

I've heard that the Beam & Read is great. Good to hear your assessment too.

I've gotta check out the Bling Your Thing! I have lots of "toys" that I bought a few years ago and haven't played with yet. Why not? Who knows! Maybe it's time.

Love your pictures of spring time!!! Just beautiful. Love your quilts! It is cool here in the mornings but gets hot pretty quick here. Our dogwoods are in bloom and it is gorgeous looking down at the creek.

Your light houses are wonderful Allie. And a great review on the light.

LOVE the lighthouse quilt! And since I'm on a budget, I use my husband's headband light (he uses for hunting) when I do my binding...my kid says I look like a goof ball...lol!

No spring around here yet. But the word is that the cherry blossom season is creeping northward in Japan. I'm pretty sure that beautiful tree you were asking about is a cherry blossom tree.
