Bitter Sweet

Today, we held a memorial service for my cousin at the cemetery.  It was a glorious day.

He died several years ago, but there were problems getting his ashes.  His mother died giving birth to him, and now he's with her.

This is such  a beautiful place.  My grandparents are buried here, along with my great-grandparents.

I had not been back here since my grandmother died in 1986.  That was the hardest and darkest day of my life.  But today, I felt only peace in this beautiful place.

I know she's not there.  She's with her beloved Jesus, and someday I'll see her again, and be able to worship Him with her.

Afterward, we went to dinner at the Green Lantern [worth an out of state road trip], then onto my cousin's home.  He's big into salt water fish tanks....he has several.

They even grow their own coral.  This is the fish tank he's getting set up in the living room, John is standing next to it to give you some idea of the size.

Isn't that just dedication?  The pics come out kind of blue, they have led lights or something in the tanks.  But gosh are they stunning in person.

I hope you had a good day too.  I have to go stitch a quilt label....see you soon!

What a lovely and peaceful spot, and also a glorious day for the memorial service. Your photos are beautiful.

I used to have fish tanks with cichlids, but I never had salt water fish -- they're so gorgeous.

Beautiful pictures but I understand your feelings. I can't hardly pass Granny's house without hurting for me but being happy for her. She is in a mansion now!

enjoyed all the photos. spectacular fall leaves.
Yes, it is so bittersweet but we know that one day we will all be with Jesus and our loved ones.
Enjoy this day in the Lord.

Allie the trees look beautiful, a quilt of beautiful leaves.
We call fish tanks like this sea tanks, not salt water ones :-) they need someone with dedication to look after them. You wouldn't need a tv if you had one would you ?

These things are hard to bear but if the weather and the surroundings are as beautiful as these it makes things slightly easier.

That is truly a lovely place for you to remember your cousin. One day, and I believe it is sooner than later, we will be with those who have gone on before us because we have accepted Christ as our Savior. Oh blessed day.

Howdy Sweet Allie
Oh my bittersweet it all too true.
Thank you for sharing this moment with us ,during my last visit with my parents I had the chance to go to Oklahoma with an aunt and travel to several small cemeteries and learn more about family members . I am so thankful that you dropped by. You have an amazing family ,those tanks are truly incredible. Thank you again for sharing with us.
Just think some day we can all meet up in heaven without any blogger issues to delay us :)
Take care my friend
God bless you and yours.
Until next time
Happy Trails

Thank you Allie for sharing this special day with us. All of the pictures of the day are gloriously beautiful and remind me of all the blessings our Creator gives us, including the wonderful Salt Water fish you cousin enjoys. I used to have a big aquarium in my home, I found it very restful but it was fresh water and the selection of fish just doesn't match the beauty of the salt water creatures. Thanks again! Big Hugs...

Allie Such a beautifuland peaceful looking spot to be able to remember your loved ones as you did.
Those autumn trees are awesome. We have no autumn trees like that where we live (the occasional very small showing but very puny compared to these.)
Big hugs to you. xx

What a perfect day and beautiful spot for the memorial - you'll always have lovely memories to think back on :) We visited my family this weekend for Thanksgiving, and went to the cemetery to visit my brother and dad. We didn't have the beautiful scenery you had, but it was very quiet and peaceful, and I was very happy to be able to visit :)

What gorgeous pictures! I miss the leaves turning colors. They don't do that here. It stays pretty warm all year and the leaves just either stay green or fall off. The fish are beautiful, too. My husband used to have a big salt water tank. It was fascinating.
