Turkey Lurkey

That's me, lately.  Not a lot of time to comment on your blogs, although I try.  Do you know what this is?

Took Sam for his fitting, and we have to go back next Friday - they need to cast a mold of him first, before having the brace made.  Won't that be fun...hope it's warm in there.  But the orthotist was very nice, and thinks it will help him.

Tomorrow I'm spending the day with Cathy, we're going to the American Sewing Expo in Novi, Michigan.  We've gone together for the past 8 years.  If any of you are going, I hope I can meet you!  Not too sure how long we'll be able to stay, Cathy fell down the stairs Wednesday and tore her meniscus in her knee.  My hubby went and got the wheelchair from his folks, but it doesn't have foot rests....so what good is it?  *sigh*

Did you figure out what my top picture was?  It's BINDING.  That's right, the quilting is done on both quilts, and binding is next!  I'm looking forward to an evening in front of the tv, old movies on, hand-stitching it to the back.  That's my favorite part.  I hope I made enough.....

I'm not good with math.

Enjoy your weekend!

I am with you I love curling up on the lounge, with the teapot close by and a binding to be stitched on, it s my favorite part too.....which is interesting when I was at my local quilt shop the other day there were a few ladies there grumbling about how painful it is......guess everyone has their likes and dislikes

That looks like a mighty fine roll of binding - you're in the home stretch! I can't do that amount of hand stitching anymore, but oh my, I did love doing it when I could - I always preferred hand to machine stitching when it came to bindings, but now I have to machine stitch them otherwise they don't get done, lol.

Have fun at the sewing expo!

I'm so relieved it's binding! It reminded me of the snake skin I saw. =)

Have a great day at the expo and a relaxing evening stitching binding. I love handwork, even stitching binding.

Have fun at the Expo!
When I measure for binding, I just add up the length of all 4 sides and then add about 10" to be sure I have a little wiggle room. Mitering the corners doesn't take up any length that I can tell. No math that way, only measuring!

I'm with you Allie, love sewing on the binding. I find it relaxing and a also a great sense of achievement to be finishing. Welld one to be so far along with them.

Have a great time at the expo! I don't measure bindings either - just estimate and hope I have just a little bit too much.

Hi Allie - Hand sewing down the binding is my favorite part too because it is relaxing and doesn't require a lot of thinking :) Have fun at the sewing expo and I hope your friend Cathy can be comfortable enough to enjoy the expo too. I wonder if it would be possible to make some sort of sling thingy that could be tied to the sides of the wheel chair to cradle her feet? Might look a little funny, but it's a thought(?)

I love your photo of the binding! Although I am not a big fan of hand stitching, I am doing it now, and getting better. Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

So sorry to hear about Cathy's knee. Sometimes Expo's have wheelchairs you can use. You might want to check it out. Your binding looks great! Fun pictures.

Beautiful binding! Hope you had fun in Novi. Can't wait for your report. Maybe next year?

I have been too busy, too. I'm catching up on blogs today. (Only getting about half-way caught up though!)
