Hot?

Me too.  Got up to 96 here, then a storm came through, and it dropped to 70.  It's climbing back up right now, and the humidity is worse than ever.  Today will be the coolest day of the week to come....I'm feeling a bit nostalgic, thinking about last January...

Here's the blocks as of Sunday, pressed and ready to go.

Now if I can just bring myself to turn the iron and sewing machine on.  Even though I have a/c in my sewing room, the rest of the house is over 100 degrees, and going in and out of my room is making me feel sick to my stomach.  I don't know how my family is coping with this, I really don't.  Sam stays in here with me, does his schoolwork and plays on the computer, but John sits at his computer downstairs and that's after working in it all day!  No a/c at the warehouse.

I had to convince my kitty to join me in here, and now I don't think she'll leave, lol.  Here she is taking over the dog bed in my room.

The dog doesn't like it in here, she can't hear what's going on in the rest of the house.  She comes in but leaves in about 30 minutes.

One tutorial for you today:  Karen from The House of Wilson has a really cute tutorial for a Baby Hands Mini-Quilt, this would be a great gift for grandparents!

I hope wherever you are, you're staying nice and cool - or warm, for my friends Down Under.  I'm going to miss Tickled Pink Tuesday this week, and Cheryl is too, she's at the beach!  I can't think of a better place to be in this weather.  Actually, ANY weather.  No place better than the beach!  Be careful in this heat, check on your outside animals, and any elderly friends or family members.  Stay safe!

Oh how I wish the suns rays would beat down on me for just 1 day - I love all seasons but I am growing tired of winter this year - Bring on Spring !! Love your kitty pic.

OOoOOO I'm not going to show Zoomer Hermoine's picture - he'd go crazy - she's such a babe! ;)

It's hot here too - I go outside to the mailbox then right back inside to the a/c. No way am I going for my 2 mile walks in this heat and humidity - not unless I was guaranteed to be burning off 10X calories ... ROTFL!

I think we hit 95 today, and it's supposed to get worse each day this week. I'm staying in the sewing room!

Wow, Allie. You have my greatest sympathies. That's exactly what our weather is like, but our entire house is air-conditioned. Wish you were closer and y'all could stay with me. Please be careful and drink plenty of water. (((Hugs)))

Sorry it's so very very hot, Allie! But glad you have a breath of ac somewhere in the house. Stay cool and think winter thoughts. Can't wait to see those blocks join hands!

It's warm here too! But I keep thinking...at least it's not snow! Love that link for the tutorial. I'm making one for my great grandson! Thanks.

I love summer, but it's crazy hot!!! We've spent every minute of free time in my dad's pool! I'm liking the looks of those blocks! :-)

I'm with all the other Aussies...I want some WARM!!! In a few months we'll all be complaining about the heat LOL!

Oh, we are in for some hot weather too. In the upper 90's with it feeling in the 100's. I am staying under the ceiling fan. :)

I do hope you can find somewhere cool and although I complain about our cold at the moment I think it is easier to get warm in the cold than keep cool in the hot (if you can understand all that!!)

Think it hit 105 here yesterday, with 99 today/tomorrow. Good thing we have A/C because I could stand it w/o it. Here's wishing for cooler weather!

We are in the midst of it also - our two little Cairn dogs go from AC vent to AC vent and if the air does not happen to be on, they head for the floor fans, they each have their own. I am in blogland or sewing and staying cool. Judy C sends best wishes

Hot Hot Hot here in Central Ohio, too. and did I mention HUMID! Ughhh. We're lucky to have whole-house A/C since this humidity would wreak havoc with my asthma.

Keep cool, Dear, and don't overdo.

We run our central air year round. We have had a few problems with it in the last year or so and we really suffered when it was out. I know you must be suffering. It's nice that you at least have air in your sewing area. I hope that is your bedroom also. Sounds like you guys need some neck coolers:

Stay cool and hydrated. Hopefully you will get some rain and relief from the heat.

What a weird storm that was! I hope you manage to stay cool. I haven't ventured out since I got home from work and let me tell you, the heat is all we talk about at work. Oh and pools! We've been pricing pools for the last 2 months and boy are they ever pricey. I don't know if I can bring myself to get one. Have a great day and I hope you get some sewing done. I'm going swimming at the neighbours.

Here is is hot and cool, hard to tell, lol.
I sat under the tree and it was so nice with a breeze, but the air is still bad, so can't stay out long.

Your kitty has the same funny nose mark as Izzy.

Hi Allie, I've been gone and then was so busy catching up I forgot about Kaaren's blocks. Is there still time for me to make one or two? If so where do I find the tutorial? Thanks bunches Allie!

You are right, it is incredibly hot, but let's think about March or April and not January, okay? I definitely don't want to go from one extreme to another.

Love the stack of blocks! Our neighbor lost her furnace when her basement flooded back in February, so she has no AC this summer and her house is like an oven! I'm so glad I have central air here! I'm hibernating until further notice! LOL

So hot! I am sitting on the bed in the only room with A/C and i wish I was in my sewing room!!!

Good luck staying cool. The blocks look great. I just realized I haven't sent mine. Am I too late?

Val said...

You amaze me what all you accomplish. It is hot here too but we do have air at home. Even with air at home if I cook it heats the house up. Headed to to look at the tutorial!

What a delicious stack of freshly pressed blocks just waiting to be made into something special.

I love stacks like this. Great photo too.

That is a very impressive stack of blocks! I hope you get some relief from the heat. It is ironic that most of the middle of the country is sweltering, but here in the desert, we are enjoying a really mild summer. Just 99 for the forecast for Saturday (which really is pleasant, when it is dry!) I am sure we will return to the furnace at some point, but the mild weather is nice while it lasts!

Marilyn said...

I agree, it is a very impressive pile of beautiful blocks.
That sounds rather hot and uncomfortable. Hoping your A/c does its best for you so you can keep doing what you love.

I cannot believe how hot it is too! And there is no end in sight here. We were supposed to have a storm, but it never made it here...so no cooling down for us. Try and stay cool.

Marg H said...

Here we are very cold - not freezing, but there have been times when it has felt that way. Particularly when it hasn't warmed up much during the day - which normally happens in our winters!! I don't like the heat of summer much, so I'm not complaining!! Hope it cools down enough so that you feel like sewing!

Val said...

All the blocks look great Allie. I hope you don't have to put up with the heat too much longer. We are trying to get every bit of sun we can manage! Take care.

Hi Allie, thanks so much for helping with my my embroidery pattern survery :) It's such fun to see which are everyones favourites, can't wait to get started. I have never tried quilting, but must find the time to do this, one day I'd love to create my own fabric from my illustrations to use in quilts. Here it's been a funny summer so far, been raining for the last 2 weeks, although a trip back home to England brought sunshine everyday for us :) Good luck with your quilt and I hope the temperatures ease up for you a bit. Love your kitty by the way, I have got 2 cats, but one is very poorly right now. Look forward to visiting your blog again soon, Catherine x
