Tickled Pink Tuesday

It's Tuesday ALREADY?  My weekend disappeared in a blur of raindrops, and huddling under a quilt - our beautiful weather turned very cold.  I know it's my fault, I packed the winter coat away.  I should know better.

Today I'm tickled because I finally caught these little guys on camera -

Normally, I catch a flash of gold out my window as they settle into the apple tree, flitting from branch to branch, then blink! they're gone.    I know the pictures aren't great, there's a window between us.   If I went outside to capture them, they'd never show up - they seem very skittish.  And with all the bees around, I'd never be able to sit still.  I have no idea what kind of bird this is, does anyone know?

Are you enjoying the Blogger's Quilt Festival?  I sure am!  Although looking at the quilts there really makes me feel like a rank amateur.  AMAZING creativity.

Enjoy your Tuesday!  I'm going to go put on 20 layers and venture out for some errands.  Maybe even drag my coat back out of storage!

Your beautiful birds are Baltimore Orioles. I used to get them all the time at my Dads. I use to hang a feeder for them. They like orange necter. I also use to put orange halves out for them. I really enjoyed seeing them. Saw a pair last week while I was walking at Metro Beach. Hugs.

Hi Allie! Our weather did the same thing...went from 91 degrees last Friday to 39 on Sunday night....I HATE that! Spring in the Midwest...makes it so hard to know what to wear!

And yes, those gorgeous birds are Baltimore Orioles. They are soooo beautiful. I don't see them often here, but do catch a glimpse of one every now and then. They make the most amazing hanging nests. And I think your photos are GREAT!

XOXO,

Cyndi

How beautiful! Growing up we had a bird card game, so I recognized these as Baltimore Orioles.

The quilt festival is fun and the recipient of the quilt I showed really enjoyed reading all the comments.

Hi Allie

Just LOVE the photos of your gorgeous birds - great shots. They are much more colourful than our Orioles in Oz.

Beautiful birdies :)

It's cool here too - the weatherman keeps telling us it'll be hot any day now but it's sure slow coming, lol! We could actually run the furnace now but aren't - there's just something wrong about running it in May :D

Such amazing pictures. I searched and found it to be a Baltimore oriole before checking your comments. I like a bit of a challenge. There are lots of different orioles pictured here:

The tree looks lovely too.

Lovely photos Allie! Thank goodness there are still signs of spring about because this weather is not a lot of fun. It's supposed to be nicer on Friday and Saturday here and I'm really looking forward to it! :0)

Oh, those birds are beautiful. I see some gold finches in our yard now and then, but it's just a flash of yellow that I see, usually. So cool that you captured them! Just lovely!

Those bird photo's are beautiful and thanks for sharing. It's cooled off here in the 70's for a few days and I'm loving every minute of it. I hate to be cold and sorry you have to dig the coat back out. I hope it warms up there soon. Don't belittle your work my friend, you are a fantastic quilter.

Hi Allie,
Oh, such pretty birds you get to see. I see you got your answer of the kind they are. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am working on a post now. We are in Utah tonight. Salt Lake City is a beautiful place. The whole town is surrounded by snow capped mountains which is not normal for this time of year. Hugs!

Great photos Allie. I love to watch the birds in my yard too.
Yesterday I watched as a pair of robins were busy building a nest in the pear tree.

Gorgeous birds! Lucky you.

We are just now getting out our winter sheets and blankets. We won't take them off now until December. We've had a lot of great weather - although unseasonal. Seems like your cold was lingering while our warm was lingering. Since we have cold now, you should warm up great! Ha ha. It really should work that way though...
