A Finish And Some Changes

I finally finished the first two stitcheries from Jenny's Give Thanks BOM - oh they are so darling!

The fabrics I used are some that sweet Cyndi had sent me, I thought they were just perfect - cheerful and the right color of blue.   Thank you Cyndi!!

I just love this bom!  I did a boo-boo though, I used a yellower white for the base, and a bright white for the little hanging stitcheries.  I think it'll be ok though.  Also, instead of binding the tiny quilts, I bordered them in the binding fabric then pillowcased them.

Also, I wanted to show you Carmen's sweet wallhanging.  She used my Sheltering Tree, and instead of the bunnies used a design by Sindy of Fat Cat designs for the little raggedies.

I love it Carmen!

And now for the changes part of this post.

I spend a LOT of time on the computer.  So much time, that no sewing gets done.  Somehow, blogging has taken top priority in my life, and that's not good.  So, seeing how undisciplined I am, and needing to fix that, I'm now on a blogging schedule.

I'm only going to read and comment on blogs on the weekends.  During the week, I'm going to concentrate on sewing.  I'll still do the Christmas posts on the day I need to [first and last of the month], but the weekend will be my time for relaxing and blogging.

We do everything slightly backwards in my family - everything gets done during the week, because we're all home all the time, and weekends we do our own thing - read, relax, computer.  So this should work for me.  I'm telling you all this so you'll understand if you don't hear from me during the week.  I'll still be doing emails every day, that's how I wake up - coffee and email!  But I won't be commenting on blogs during the week, unless I have some downtime late in the evening.

I'm hoping this helps me become more creative again, I have so many ideas for quilts and stitcheries.  Plus several things to finish up!  And I'm looking forward to really enjoying blogging again.  Have a great week, I'll see you soon!

I love your stitchery from Jenny. And the fabric Cyndi sent you is just adorable. Very nice job.

I don't blame you one bit for scheduling your blogging. I am going to have to do the same thing. I don't read much of the newspaper so blogging has been my news! But it does keep me from getting things done around the house and in my sewing room. So I completely understand your doing this. I'm gonna follow suit!

Hugs!

I certainly understand how the computer can steal our time. But I will miss your sweet comments and emails. I am looking forward to seeing a lot of creativity coming out of your camp :-)

Love your stitcheries...oh your blog schedule idea is a great one. I've given a lot of thought to cutting back my computer time also. I really need to do that. Thanks for sharing.

I love the stitcheries. I still can't do dainty even stitches but I love the pictures.
I tried to limit myself to two posts a week a while back but found myself dying to share something so it kind of got away again. I have spent hours checking on uploading photos. Do you do something special to get the photo to go to flickr? I have put my photo in from flickr but it doesn't link back there. Hope I catch you on Sunday :)

I love what you have done with Jenny's BOM. That fabric really makes it. I agree with the comments/computer thing. I spend too much time surfing and commenting. It's good to set limits. Love what Carmen did with your sitichery. Adorable!

The Give Thanks are lovely exactly as they are but would also make great quilt labels. Beautiful!

Allie,
I understand how you feel. I need more time in the studio too. You are much more disciplined than I am. I will miss you. But looking forward to hearing from you on the weekends. I am doing the "Christmas thing" this month too.

Your stitcheries are very pretty, Allie.

And totally understand about limiting your blog time. It can take over your life if you let it!!

Good for you Allie - you've got to prioritize so that you have some time to breathe. I have to say that the fabric you used from Cyndi couldn't have been more perfect - just beautiful!

Your stitching is always such a delight to see.

I hear you about the online time. It can be a little addictive. But, it seems like trying to post something to your own blog is WAY more time consuming between photographing, writing, etc. That is why I don't post that often.

You get a lot of comments and I bet replying to them takes a lot of time, too. Personally, I don't think it is necessary. I know you and anyone else will have read my comment and appreciated that I stopped by. I don't know where that custom got started but maybe it's time for that to change? I remember seeing a button on some blogs that said "blogging without obligation" and I liked that idea.

Oh, my goodness, where have you been all my life? Seriously, I came here from Jenny's post, and I may as well pull up a chair and unpack a bedroll. I'm a homeschooling mom, and a pastor's wife, and I sew, and stitch a bit...

I'm ready to hit "save" and go clicking and...yeah. Oh, girl, I'm sooooo not leaving!

Your "give thanks" stitchery is just beautiful and cheerful at the same time. Where will you be hanging this?

Your stitchery is just darling! Your stitches are so great. And I love the fabric too.

I understand about limiting the blogging. It can take over. So, I try not to do it too much. Gotta get off the computer now - I have a quilt to get quilted!

Your stitcheries are beautiful!

The computer and blogging needs to fit into YOUR schedule - not the other way around. You do what you need to do to keep life running smoothly - we'll support you however you need it!

I know what you mean about blogging. I'm getting out of control with it and am having to rein myself in, too. I started Jenny's BOM but didn't like how I did mine. Trying to decide if I'm giving it up or going to redo it. Shoot.

Hope you're feeling better!
