Tickled Pink Tuesday

Yep, that time again!  What's tickling you today?  Join Cheryl and I in posting!

What's tickling me today [and the rest of the family] is that it's Fat Tuesday, and thus it's paczki [pronounced punch key, or poonch key] day!  Paczki's are a deep-fried dessert from Poland.  We're Irish, not Polish, but it's been a tradition for us to enjoy these once-a-year treats.  I'm so, so looking forward to it!

I've been quiet lately, not feeling like myself much.  I've been visiting blogs but not commenting.  I don't know if it's the time of year, or this long-lasting virus, but I've had no interest in doing anything.  No sewing, not much computer, a lot of sitting and running mum around.  Mum is having cataract surgery next Monday, and all the pre-op appointments are making me tired, lol.  I get my crown this Thursday - thank the Lord there has been no pain with it.  We're all still hacking and coughing.  I'll be so glad when it's warm enough to open all the windows and really air the house out.

Wendy from The Crafter's Apprentice sent me a link to a tutorial for a glasses case over at Craft Ady - I like this one a lot!  And Jill from Unfinished Quilts sent a link for 35 things to make with fabric scraps - excellent list!  Thank you ladies!

Hopefully I'll be back to normal soon, I really miss chatting with you all!

Sounds like you're in the same boat as me, Allie! Hope you're back to feeling like "you" soon! I'm keeping you in my prayers! I'll also be praying for your mom's surgery to go well.

XOXO,

Cyndi

I think it's just that time of year. I know exactly hoe you feel. It's been hard to stay motivated for anything. Good news...I'm sure it will pass! :-)

I'm glad to see you post - I was getting a bit worried :) I know the "blah" feeling - especially at this time of the year - our weather still hasn't warmed up much and it's rather dreary! I finally got off my butt and went for a walk today but just about froze my babushkas off - I hope it warms up soon! The sunshine is nice, though - at least we know spring will be here EVENTUALLY!

Hey friend,
Sorry to hear you've been struggling. It's definitely THAT time of year I think. Get some rest and hang in there! Take care

Allie, I'm just tickled pink to read your blog. You always have such great information. Hugs

Can you send those deep fried treats via your blog? Because now I'm going to get no rest until I've tasted one. Nothing better than fried dough to improve everything, Allie -- you'll be back to normal in no time (at least I hope you are. Best wishes!)

It's Fastnacht Day in my area. Fastnachts are square donuts without the hole. Other than that, not sure how they really differ from regular donuts. But they're tasty, and someone always brings a few dozen to the office.
I have the exact same symptoms that you describe. I hope Spring Fever will soon take over!

Oh it's definitely that time of the year! We're all waiting for spring to get here and bring that wonderful warmth and sunshine to our spirits.
I am wishing and praying you well. And happy for you that you get your crown. So glad you don't have any pain. Been there, done that!

Happy Tuesday!

I'm so sorry you are feeling down in the dumps. As you know, I can relate. You have a lot on your plate right now with your family being sick, surgery for your mom and your tooth. With the winter also lingering on so long it's no wonder that you feel the way you do. The sun is shining in my windows today, so I know it must be for you too...find a patch of sunshine, now matter how small, sit with your face in it and just "be" for a few minutes. Try to feel the warmth soaking in. Even if it is just temporary, it always helps me to recharge my batteries a little and hopefully it will help you too. Sending you a great big, warm hug!

I'd love a paczki, but alas, I'll have to let you eat mine. :) The sun is shining up here in Flint. Sit in front of a window and let it warm your face. That always helps me!

I can't wait to open the windows and air out the house too! It's been a long time since we had any fresh air in here! LOL

Sometimes life just needs to be lived and let's face it real life does sorta take priority. Hope everything goes well for your mum and you and also that this "season" of your life will turn with the nature seasons and the sun shines in your soul again soon. Blessings and prayers sent your way plus a hefty dose of some Aussie sunshine :0)

I hope you feel better soon. You know, sometimes it's good just to open the windows and doors even though it's still cold out, just for about an hour. Turn the heat low and let the frsh air in. It doesn't take long to ccol down and then to warm it up again.

Around these parts, we have "Fasnacht" Day to celebrate Fat Tuesday. The are kind of like doughnuts, without the hole, and traditionally are made with lard, fat, butter and sugar. To eat one on Fat Tuesday is suppose to bring good luck for the rest of the year.

Hope you feel better soon. xo

I'm tickled to learn that I am expecting grandbaby #4 ... and that it's coming to the pair who wanted to "space" their children. Is 19 months considered "space"? LOL

I think of you nearly every day, Allie, when I see the pillow you embroidered for me. :) I don't know that I am "tickled" by it, but it makes me smile.

Hope you're back to your old self real soon! I have never heard of paczki...sounds yummy, why is it that everything tastes better when it's deep-fried?

Sorry to hear that you're still feeling icky, Allie. I hope you're better soon. It's impossible to be creative when you feel like that, and that's No Fun.

Wish I could share a paczki with you! Never had one, but how can you go wrong with fried dough?? I'll have to settle for having pie on Monday. (Pi Day!)

Hang in there. I have a colleague who says, "If it isn't fun....it isn't fun." Or "It's only fun if it's fun." Or something like that. Basically, if you're not having fun doing it, then set it aside until it is fun. I hope you are feeling better soon!
