Quick Update

Mum came through her cataract surgery like a trooper.  Being night owls both, we had stayed up all night to make sure she got there at 5:30am.  There were a LOT of small children there...not sure why they needed surgery but they were sleepy and adorable.  I got her home where she got a good nap after being sick, made her breakfast and finally left around noon - up for 24 hours straight.  I did manage to get a nap, but not for long.  Teenage boys don't seem to know how to be quiet.

My tooth has settled down.  I had an allergic reaction to my pain meds.  When I got my prescription filled, I told them I was allergic to codeine.  I was in so much pain that I picked up my meds and downed them immediately - took 3 pills Thursday [not all at once].  Friday morning, I woke up itching violently, terrible hot flashes and sick to my stomach - turns out there's a huge warning on the bottle to not take it if you're allergic to codeine.  I'll be paying Walmart a visit and calling the supervisor - I worked at a pharmacy and I know they should have caught that.  I should have too, but was in too much pain to look.

Japan is still so heavy on my heart.  I find myself in continuous prayer for everyone there.  Not only for safety, food, shelter, heat, healing, and mercy, but for their very souls.  If you can, please visit the Salvation Army's website to donate.  They will need it for a very long time to come.

I'm going to try to get some more sleep.  Mum has an appointment in the morning [Tuesday] so I need to get up early again.  Forgive me for being so absent at your blogs and so behind on emails...I just can't find the energy.  Things should be back to normal around here in a few days.

I'm so sorry to hear you are having such a difficult time right now Allie! But glad to hear your mum is ok and recovering. Hope it all settles down soon for you!

Those quilts from your friend Wendy look lovely. Not sure if we get that magazine here - but I try not to buy too many - too many here all ready!

I followed your link to tipnut - then on to 'sew me something good' (very interesting blog) and then her friend's blog 'dutch comfort' - so many interesting and talented ladies out there! Sometimes it's so nice to just bounce around a little...

I'm taking my MIL to the dentist today to have her remaining teeth out - time for a full denture. Hopefully it will all go smoothly. It seems like we just get our children grown and settled a little then we start looking after the parents! It's a good thing families are wrapped in love!

No sewing since before Christmas (huge sigh). Hopefully soon!

Take care! Love - Shari

No need to visit or talk....just know I'm thinking about you and your mom. Lets get those teenagers some marshmallow shoes and take all doors off the hinges. Oh I remember the girls at those ages...what was loud to me....was being quiet to them...yikes.

Hugs,
Kelly

So glad your mom is doing okay! But that thing with the codeine pill....that is WAY BAD. You are lucky the reaction wasn't worse. You definately want to report this ASAP before someone else is hurt!
Feel better soon. Hugs to you and mom........

Glad your mom is okay. Those pharmacies should definitely know better than to do that. It can be deadly. You definitely need to see the manager on that one. Once they gave me pills that were for something else, and I was there to get birth control pills. That was a pretty weird mixup!

I am glad to hear all is well with you (well, almost anyway) and your Mom. And you are correct, the pharmacy should have caught that. Feel better real soon.

Allie,
I have the same reaction to codiene and similar drugs. I hope you are feeling better soon. That magazine looks great. Enjoy!

My heart is also breaking for Japan. I just feel so helpless and wish there was something I can do besides pray. It truly makes me appreciate even my smallest blessings.
XOXO,
Susan

Glad you're mom is doing well, and sorry to hear of your Rx probs. They certainly should have checked on your sensitivities before filling that script. Hope you're feeling better real soon. I have 3 caps and know they can make you feel like you've been worked over for awhile sometimes. Hugs ... and take care.
