March Christmas Finish And A Free Download

I don't know why I always finish things at night.  It makes for lousy pictures.  And I'm too impatient to wait for morning to take better pics.  Anyway, here's my March finish.  The quote is by Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

 DSC02451    2

The second picture shows the truer colors.  Can't say who it's for at this time, I have to pack it away until Christmas!  I couldn't find just the right fabric in my stash, I searched and searched - then I looked at my sewing machine cover and thought BINGO!  It wasn't a great sewing machine cover, so I didn't mind cutting it up.

I simply added 2 1/2" borders and did the pillowcase method - no binding.  I used a simple running stitch in the tree, a lazy daisy stitch for the leaves, and a simple backstitch with two strands for everything else.

My boys tell me my bunnies look like kangaroos.  They're having dinner right now - bread and water.  Oh, and they're grounded for life.

How are you all doing with your Christmas gifts this month?  Next week we'll be linking up and having the give-away!  Getting harder to think of things, isn't it?  Well, it is for me!  I hope you're having an easier time.

The auctions over at Jo's are still going on, you have until March 26th, including my Lemon Tree quilt.  Kay in NJ, I still need to hear from you!

Allie,

This is sooooo sweet! Chuckles on your sons drinking water and eating bread - that ought to teach them to criticize your art, haha.

It's such a sweet pattern, Allie, and it was very resourceful of you to use the fabric from your sewing machine cover -- it's perfect.

I don't think your bunnies look like kangaroos at all, but I'll tell you from experience that the "grounded for life" punishment does not work at all.

awww...soooo pretty!! I like your bunnies! Tell them boys I said, "shush!!" Your machine cover is the perfect fabric...guess that means you need a new one!! :) So glad you are feeling better! Thankfully we are getting an early Spring, so the winter blues didn't have time to settle in this year!! Hopefully that beautiful tree out your window will be in full bloom soon!! xo

Love it! And it's one of my favorite quotes. And I love it even more because you cut up your sewing machine cover. And because your sons think it has kangaroos on it. Such a fun piece, Allie -- and a fun post! Thanks for the generous share.
