Happy um, SPRING?

Ah yes - first day of spring we had massive thunderstorms and sleet, and are now under a winter storm watch, due to hit tomorrow night.  Saturday was nice though, I went to pick out paint with my friend Cathy No-Blog for her new sewing studio.  It was sunny and warm, and on sunny warm days in the Motor City you see things like this:

Always fun to see!

While at the hardware store, I realized I'm being drawn to blues lately.  Honestly, everything there that was blue caught my eye and held it.  Especially this.

blue collection1

I want that room so bad I can taste it.  I have NEVER been a blue person - hated blue, it made me sad, and French blue annoyed me.  Now I can't get enough.  But it does have to be a special blue, and this room is full of them.  Maybe I'm just longing for sunny warm days at the beach....

Joanne Fabric is having a sale on solids this week, Friday through Sunday.  I'm going to stock up on blues and make a Lake Huron quilt.  I have no idea what it will look like, I might break out my Jean Wells book and have a play, I just want something to satisfy my blue cravings.

I hope your spring is progressing better than mine.  The lovely Fiona at Designs by Fee is having a great give-away, go enter!  And don't forget to check out the auctions going on for Japan over at Jo's blog - so many beautiful things to bid on!

I'm almost done with my stitchery, I had to add a couple of wee friends, I just love them.  I'm going to put a border on and bind it tomorrow, I hope...mum goes for her post-op checkup, so that will be most of my day.  But I'm itching to get it done so maybe I'll stay off the computer and finish.  Then I can upload, and you can stitch one too, if you'd like.

Have a great evening!

Sounds like you had a nice weekend. I think blue makes you feel calm and serene. I think that is why I used to be drawn to that color when my life was in chaos. Thanks for the heads up about the solids on sale. I want to get some of those for my modern quilt. Thanks for the other links too. I'm on my way...

Our spring started out un-springy, too! I also have the joann sale in mind for the weekend! I am loving the blues, and greens, and reds and yellows...

Isn't it funny how we were created... we get a hankering deep down within us to accomplish something or "get our blue on" and we don't rest until it's done. Then it's like, Ahhhhhhhhh. There we go. That's better now. I feel that way when I finish a quilt that's been in my mind for a long time.

I love that truck. What a beauty. It seems like we are having left over summer here at present. 35 Celsius today (95F). That blue room looks so cool and pleasant.

Oh, no! Not more winter weather. Come down here and enjoy the gorgeous southern spring. The trees are blooming, the grass is getting mowed, and it is shorts weather!

I love blues, but like you, they have to be the right blues. There are so many colors that have blue undertones. But I am also happy with Pink, but my family would never let me paint anything in pink :-)

I have been seeing a lot of the old cars again. Gotta love the Motor City!!

I had no idea another storm was on its way. What?! I could have done without hearing that! LOL

I have never been a blues person either, but lately, it has been calling my name. I am not sure why.

Very cool photos, Allie!!! (((You would know that your non-sewing friend would focus on the photos!!!)))

I hear you about blues. I remember a few years ago asking a friend if she would pick up something for me and I told her to get it in any color BUT blue. Today, the living area of my house is almost entirely blue. LOVE blue. Love it!!! So peaceful and clean, don't you think?

I guess we are in the same boat with the weather, although we are a tad north of you and gearing up for some ice. Was actually hoping it would hit today since it is my sons 17th birthday and we are hoping for a snow day, but tomorrow will do.lol

Not much of a blue person myself, but my son! OMG! When he was little everything had to be blue! Even yesterday I went and bought some new plastic bowls and his first comment when he grabbed one?!? They're blue. Blue is a color I will definately be playing with in the future, if just for him. Absolutely love that room though, very relaxing.

Our spring is a real bust! Snowed yesterday and some more is due in the next day or two. In between, the temps are mild but I still see white outside. ARGH.

Spring, Yeah! Until tomorrow that is. Maybe it will pass us by. Anyway with all the solids on sale at Joanns' I'm sure you'll find some blues for your Lake Huron quilt and that's a really blue lake too. Maybe that's why you're drawn to blue. But I think it's the need for some warm sunshine like the Caribbean kind.

Welcome to blue. Although I have always loved it I really don't think I could go for a blue room. Maybe one wall...Love that truck.

The crappy weather headed our way, and our forecast for tonight calls for freezing rain, ice pellets and snow. YAY! NOT!!! This is the winter that just won't end - we had a taste of warmish weather and most of our snow melted so this dreadful cold and the stuff falling from the sky in icy or cold format - is NOT WELCOME! Happily, however, the sap has started to run and we bought a nice 4 litre jug of Ontario maple syrup from a local conservation centre - it's YUMMY! LOL!!

I've always been a blue person, but in the past five years, my house has gradually become a blue-free zone. I have warm greens, golds, reds, purples... but now I have decided to turn the small guest room into a very feminine blue and white space. I've got plenty of blue and white quilts!
