And I'm sharing it with you. You can get the pdf file here.
My little birdie didn't like staying in a cage, so I left the door open for her. She decorated her little home with lots of ivy. I think she's very happy there! I haven't stitched her out yet, but I plan to this weekend. Won't you join me? I think I will do her in redwork, but may make her sister in other colors. If you make your own, I would love to see!
And now I have a question for you. Have any of you ever straightened your hair, permanently? I've had it done at a salon, but would like to do it myself, to save big bucks. If you have done this successfully [or unsuccessfully!] I'd love to hear your story!
Have a great weekend everyone, I plan to sew until I can't see straight!

I love this birdcage, Allie! I think I'm going to use it in a redwork quilt that's in progress. Thanks for sharing it.
You are asking the me if I have tried to straighten hair :-)
Hair straighter queen.
In the end it always curls again.
No amount of any tacky "stuff" or hair drying or anything else for that matter. GIVE IN Gracefully :-)
Thanks for the bird Allie, I'm pleased you kept the cage door open.
:-) xxx
Oh my gosh, he is so CUTE!!! And you can draw! I sure wish I could. I downloaded your bird cage... I'll be doing that one! Love it.
Thank you Allie!! It's beautiful! I'll be doing this one for sure. About the hair straightening...my daughter ended up with extremely curly hair and hard to tame. She never tried straightening it permanently (I'm glad!) but sometimes she will use a Chi flat iron to straighten it. It takes a long time to do it though.
Allie, that is just ADORABLE!!!! Do you draw these freehand and then scan them or do you draw them on the computer? I love that the door is open for the bird.
We looked at the hair straightening for our daughter. The problem is if your hair grows fast, the roots will have the curl/frizz/etc. pretty quickly even if the rest is straight. Blow-drying and then using a flat-iron took a long time since she has long hair. Then, we found the Conair Infiniti hair dryer. It has a comb-like attachment that straightens your hair as you dry it and it has worked really, really well. All she needs is just a touch up with a flat iron afterwards. I just looked on Amazon and you can get one for $21. It dries her hair fast and it dries pretty straight and without frizz and it stays straight until she washes it again. If someone has really short hair, it would be hard to use, but below chin length and beyond it has been wonderful.
Oh I love the birdie. I am actually devoting this weekend at the Sparta Hilton to do that embroidery on that little practice daygown. I sure hope that I can do it. My daughter had her hair straightened at the salon too but she didn't do it herself. But she is coloring her hair herself now. That is something I want to learn.
Allie, I will have to embroider your bird and cage. Thanks!!!
That is really lovely - and so sweet to share it with us too..... thanks....
Oh, Allie...your bird is the sweetest! I love it...thank you!
Hair straightening? Ugh! I used to straighten it myself, but it grows out much too fast. I'll never do a chemical straightening again.
A flat-iron has been the answer for me...even down here in the hot and humid south. I let my hair air dry for an hour or so, blow it dry with a hair dryer (about 10 minutes), then use a flat-iron. It will keep my hair smooth and free of frizz for days...even down here...until I wash it again. My hair is very dry...I can often go a week without washing it.
oooo Allie, I love this one! I think we've started a trend!!!! LOL I'm with Jen....Im not going batty, I'm going 'birdy'!!!
Off to download now!
