Tuesdays Treasures

I'm not too late, it's not Wednesday yet - here in the States anyway...so here's my Treasure this week.

It's a picture of me and my mum.

We don't have many, and I treasure this one.  It's very tiny and pretty darn goofy and it sums up my mum perfectly.  We went through some very tough times, but got over them, and now we're best buds.  She looks at life through rose-coloured glasses, she can find good in anyone, and gets such delight out of life.  She never met a stranger.   She's the kind of grandma who pushes buttons on all the electronic toys at the toy store - as fast as she can, just to hear them all make noise at once.  The kind of mum who gave me ice cream for breakfast.  The kind of mum who had water fights with my dad through the kitchen window, him with the hose and her with a pitcher of water from the sink.   And we all adore her.  Head on over to Clare's Craftroom for more Tuesdays Treasures!

On the sewing front, I've been distracted.

Ever tea-dye fabric?  I love it.  And then there's a bit of mixing coming up....

See?  Distracted.   I hope it looks like what I have in my head - it's going to be a gift.

For those of you that pray, my mom's neighbor could use some.  She was mugged last week, at the end of the street.  She had just gotten off the bus after cashing her Social Security check.  The guy ran at her, hit her and knocked her down.  When she hit the pavement she lost consciousness, and lay there for 15 minutes before painfully picking herself up and walking to my mom's house.  Mum called the police and ambulance - Ida is now in the hospital with 6 broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and concussion.  She's 80 years old.  Bless her heart.

Precious treasure, Allie, and I love how you summarized your relationship with your mom. So sweet.

I have tea-dyed muslin before and was very pleased with the results. Can't wait to see what you are doing with your tea-dye and paint.

Poor Ida. Bless her...and of course, I will pray for her.

I love that photo of you and your mom. It sounds like you had a lot of fun as a child growing up with entertaining parents. So sorry to hear about your mom's neighbour. To think that someone had the balls to knock down a older woman. What nerve!

Allie, I adore that picture of you and your mom. She looks like she is a lot of fun, and what a cute baby you were!

Oh my gosh, poor Ida! I just cannot imagine someone doing that to anyone, let alone an 80-year-old woman! And I can't believe no one saw her laying there! Poor dear. I will definitely be praying for her...and I hope they catch the creep that hurt her and stole her money!

XOXO,

Cyndi

I do hope your mom's neighbour has a successful and speedy recovery. Same thing happened to my mom when she was 80 - she suffered a heart attack but no broken bones. She's 91 now.
I do love that pic of you and your mom. What a wonderful treasure.

I will pray for your mom's neighbor - seems to me this person has been watching her & knew exactly when she would have money. I hope the police catch him/her.

Lovely picture Allie.

As for the dyeing stuff, even acrylic is a devil to get off, or am I the only one who never wears gloves.

What a great photo, that's a keeper for sure. So sorry about your mom's neighbor.. I sure don't know how people can be so cruel, especially to an 80 yr old woman. Poor dear, I'll keep her in my prayers. Broken ribs are so very painful.

Oh my goodness. What a terrible thing for your mother's neighbor. What is the world coming to with people preying on the weak.

Lord, we just ask You to be with this good woman that was only trying to make her way home. Thank You that she has friends and neighbors who care about her. Help her to heal both physically and psychologically. Lord we know that all is in Your hands. In Jesus' name. Amen
