May The 4th Be With You

In case you didn't know, today is national Star Wars day.  Now you know.  My son wanted to celebrate with a day of movies, but it was too late - it takes over 13 hours to watch them all.

Recently, Mary had a give-away on her blog.  Bless her heart, she picked me too.  Today I got the most beautiful package...

of black, white and yellow fats.  Aren't they stunning?

Something very special is going to come from them.  Not sure what yet, but I'll enjoy looking through my patterns!  Thank you so much, Mary!

I'd like to introduce you to a very special friend of mine - Denise - we've known each other for many years, and never met in real life.  She lives in a very special place, if you ever read Anne of Green Gables, well, that's where.  I've wanted to visit her ever since I "met" her online.  She's just beginning her journey as an author and has written a children's book called I Believe I Can Fly.  She's self-published and I can't wait to read it.  Go say hi if you get a chance - she's a kindred spirit.

Today I actually sat down and quilted on my tablerunner.  No pics.  After my eyes got tired [thread is the same color as the fabric, dark blue] I worked on something else - a secret squirrel project.  Here's a sneak peek.

I think tonight I'm going to go through my patterns and see what I have that will show off my lovely new fabrics - or maybe I'll draw something, for some reason I keep thinking lemon tree.

Please keep the folks from Nashville in your prayers - and of course the entire Gulf Coast, including the sea life.  I love the Gulf so much and it's breaking my heart to see the devastation.

wow Allie, great fabrics you won! I am so happy for you, and can't wait to see what you come up with. I stood in line for hours to see Star Wars, when it first came out. I think Yoda is my favorite. May the force be with your son today..lol, hugs, Elaine

Well, now you are full of information! :o) I had no idea Star Wars had a "day" but I love all the Star Wars movies. Hope your son found time to fit in at least a couple of the movies!

Congrats on winning that yummy fabric, Allie. I, too, can't wait to see what you make from it. I'm sure it will be something great.

I'm definitely keeping all the people affected by the flood in my prayers. And as for Louisiana - well, that's where I'm from and it is breaking my heart to think of what's going to happen down there. People's livelihoods as well as all the marine and coastal life are threatened by this horrible event. The wetlands and marshes off the coast are so fragile as it is and this is just going to be devastating. Not to mention what will happen as the oil begins to drift into Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. I can hardly stand to think of it!

XOXO,

Cyndi

Congrats on the gorgeous fabric win!! I love those colors together and can't wait to see what you come up with. I'm also saddened by the devastation from the oil spill. I lived in AK during the Exxon oil spill in Valdez and well know the devastation to the wildlife and fisheries. We can only hope they contain it quickly and will take better precautionary measures in the future.

Those fabrics are very lemony! Can't want to see what inspiration brings to you!

Lucky Allie to have won such pretty fabrics -- I know you're going to make something completely fabulous with them.

I feel sick about the oil disaster and how it's going to impact that people and creatures in the Gulf.

Congrats on your win! I love the yellow, it's so different than the usual combinations. My oldest son has been to PEI a few times and even lived there for a summer. I've always wanted to visit but never have had the chance, yet. So maybe one day I'll have to go see this place of red sand and no, it doesn't come out in the wash.

Looking forward to see that table runner.

Oh that is lovely fabric and I know what you make with it will be gorgeous! One of my daughters is a fan Anne of Green Gables. PEI is one of the Atlantic Provinces so if you ever venture there let me know so we can connect. I never thought Kelly and I would meet in person but it looks like we may do just that, so it may happen for you and Denise.
I am saddened by the oil spill. Louisiana has a special meaning as it is home to fellow Acadian cousins.
