Hooray For Rainy Days!

Today is a lovely day - rain, rain, rain, which means lots of sewing time.  My new iron is working like a champ...the glue on the fusible is behaving like it darn well should.  Here's the hero of the day:

I recently found another indispensible tool.  If you have one of these -

then you need one of these.

I hadn't seen one since I was a kid!  I've been using lint rollers to remove all the cat hair that gets on my quilts - because fusible web won't work if the fabric is covered with cat hair - and they work, I thought.  I found this lint brush at the dollar store and remembered my grandma having one.  They're incredibly superior to lint rollers, and they last!  The hair is easily removed with a swipe of your hand.  Yes, I stocked up - I bought three, lol.  My cat has a LOT of hair.  Even so, I think I have a lifetime supply.

In other happy news, my blog is mentioned over at the Be@Home blog.  Every month they have a Carnival of Shopping post, and they mention some great blogs!  Check them out - it's a fun place.  I like to virtual shop, lol!

I'll leave you with another photo of Hermoine.  I can only hope I don't look like this from the back!

I have a few of those lint brushes as well. Those tape rollers aren't quite as good as they used to be. I think they make them less sticky on purpose so you have to buy twice as much. LOL Cute kitty!!
I'll go over and take a look at the Be@home blog.

LOL....on the backside comment. Poor Hermione, we laugh at her expense.

Poor kitty...if she only knew what you've done to her, posting her backside on the internets!

Sorry I'm late, but a belated Very Happy Birthday! I hope you had a wonderful day.

I'm glad to hear that you're writing a pattern! Yes, it's hard. I've done some for my guild's charity committee. So, my sympathies to you as well! Good luck....I hope it goes easier now with the new iron and the "hair brush". My cats also help with the distribution of cat hair onto everything they can reach! I'm still using the sticky rollers at the moment, and they can kind of chew up the edges of your quilt top!

It's okay Hermione - we're not fat, we're fluffy, right? (That's my story, even though I have no fur, and I'm sticking to it! LOL)

Oh my gosh...I had some of those lint brushes years ago and finally wore them out. I didn't know they could still be found any where. I'm heading to the dollar store tomorrow to see if I can find any. My two cats think it is their privilege to nap in my fabric stash, or on whatever is on my cutting table!

Hermoine is adorable. My Buster looks like that from behind also! =^..^=

XOXO,

Cyndi

Those lint brushes sure do beat the rollers. We bought a couple too and they do come in handy when company is coming over and you notice the cushions on the kitchen chairs are covered with cat hair.

Why that's a completely unfair photo! Given the wrong angle we can all look like that from behind - lOL

I'm told the furminator is a must have tool for anyone with a furry friend!

PS Happy belated Birthday!

My kitties are my sewing supervisors, too! They love to lay on anything I am working on! I may have to find one of those myself!

Talk about a blast from the past, i didn't know they even still made those lint collectors! Hermoine is sure one pretty cat !!! She looks like she has lots of hair too :D

We have the same exact brush. It's perfect for cat hair and I like it better than the sticky roll because it doesn't create any waste

Have a lint brush just like your and 3 similar ones. I keep one in my suitcase to de-fur on arrival, when on trips.

Love my lint brush!! They work better than any I think. Love the kitty pics...the behind shot, that's how I'm looking after our cruise I'm afraid!!

I thought my cats were big.
Are you sure the soggibottom cats and yours didn't come from the same litter :-)
I always think it's good to see them so well looked after :-) x

Holy mackerel! Is your cat ever big! And I have a few of those linty things and they work great. I heard that it's snowing in Northern MI today.

Hermoine is so beautiful, I have the same lint brushes, no cats but 3 dogs.

Can't wait to see what you're working on! Poor kitty - I'd be angry if someone posted a shot of me like that LOL!

That is a FUNNY picture of your cat, Allie! And I'm getting to look a little more like that all the time . . . Looks to me like you got the same iron I did -- I'm not sure I like it. I find that the coating on the iron's surface drags a little on my wool. But my daughter gave it to me as a gift, so I shall "press on" with it and try to make friends! Happy April showers!

Can't help but wonder what Hermoine must be thinking looking out the window like that. And with such wistful eyes at that.

Your kitty is a cutie--probably not "speaking" to you after you posting that picture-right?! Glad you got a new "hero" that is working well!

Allie, cheers to the hero of the day! ;) We don't really think about it, but irons are a BIG part of a quilter's life! :)

I love my lint brush...and I love your Hermoine!!! She's just gorgeous.
Congratulations on your new toy!! \o/

Yes, I have seen those lint brushes too in Japan. I'll have to see if we have one hidden away in the drawers... If not, since you so heartily recommend them, I'm going looking!

Hermoine has a great spot there -- she can take up a huge amount of your working space on the cutting mat, and look at the window at the same time. It would only be more perfect is there were a bit of fabric to lie on as well.

I've never used that type of brush, but I'm going to look for one because we go through those lint roller thingies like crazy.

So glad you had a good day. I have one of those lint thingy too. They do the trick.

Beautiful cat and I am not even a cat lover! I would not tolerate it on my sewing table or quilts, just makes me squeamish. I like the idea of a cat, how is that?? What kind of iron did you get? I need a new one.

Thanks for popping by my blog - yes, it was terrific meeting up with Midge, shame it was only for an hour or so, we could have chatted for much longer! We'll just have to make our way down to Soggibottom cottage one day.....

Hermione is a treasure!! I'd run a mile if someone tried to take my photo from the rear :-)
Really though, she is a very pretty pusscat...
have a fun day, hope your Springtime ailments aren't being too nasty,
hugs Cheryl x
