The Best Laid Plans

Today, I was committed to spending all day in the sewing room.  Determined to get this pattern done, I knew I had to buckle down and not get distracted.  Due to the fibromyalgia, it really takes it out of me to leave the house - not just the leaving, but all the prep time [getting dressed, drying hair, etc].  By the time I come home, I'm tired and don't feel like sewing.  So, NO plans to leave home today meant a good sewing day, right?

First shot at applique, and the glue won't melt on my fusible.  I shake the iron.  I turn up the heat.  I give it my best "I'm the mom, I'm in charge and you're in trouble" look.  I hold the iron on there long enough to scorch it.  Nothing.  Guess what?  I have to leave the house and go buy a new iron.
End of sewing.

But.  It was a gorgeous day, although a bit humid [100%].  I picked up my mom and we went off with the sunroof and all the windows open.  T-shirt weather.  I ended up being glad that I got to leave the house!

Would you like a peek at the pattern?  This is just a corner.......

Tomorrow is storms all day.  Excellent sewing weather, provided we don't lose power!

Allie, you must get an applique mat. Its made from Teflon and prevents glue, fusible web etc, from sticking to your iron and ironing board.I use tumble dryer softner sheets to clean my iron, it really works. Can't wait to see your new pattern, love the colours already. Hope you're feeling much better today.

The pattern looks cute!
Sorry to hear about your day. If I lived near you I would have gone and gotten a new iron for you. But at least it was a nice day when you did get out and about. Stormy days...ahhhh, perfect for staying indoors and SEWING!
Praying you don't lose power.

Allie that is just beautiful! I LOVE lighthouses and beachy/oceany (are those real words? Probably not) themed quilts! Hang in there - hope the electricity stays on despite the stormy forecast so you can enjoy a good sew day :)

(((Hugs))) Maybe it was God's way of getting you out of the house and a new iron on a sunny day, instead of having to go buy one on a stormy day like today.

You are so talented, dear friend.

Much love,
Pat

that's really cute Allie! I hope you get tons of sewing done today! We got a skif of snow, but it's mainly just on the grass, so I don't mind!

Allie, so sorry to hear that you suffer from fibro...so do I! Have you tried walking? I thought that was weird but that's what my doc told me to do and it does help some.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day here as well. Made it up to 86! I didn't sew a lick, but plan on doing laundry and sewing all day today. :o)

Hope you are feeling much better today!

XOXO,

Cyndi

P.S. Love the project...can't wait to see it further along!

I have heard some nasty stuff about irons and I do hope that you got a good one.
Take your time and everything will fall into place. Hoping you are feeling better soon.

Oh Allie, I just had that challenge with the iron a few weeks ago, really takes the fun out of sewing for the day. Hope you are feeling better soon!
Your pattern looks wonderful so far, can't wait to see it all! :)
Peace,
Mickie

It always seems to happen that way, doesn't it? You're all set to sew, you're focused and BAM! a wrench is thrown in and then you have to rethink what your day will go.

A warm spring day driving sounds good though :^)

Belated Happy Birthday to you Allie!

Anchors!! -- my daughter, Emily, would love this pattern. It's looking very cute, and I can't wait to see the whole thing.

I hope you have a better sewing day, today, but I agree -- getting out of the house on a sunny day is a good thing, too.

Oh, Allie! I love the preview of the lighthouse quilt. The swirls in the "water" fabric makes it a wonderful choice! That lighthouse reminds me...we'll be at the Marblehead lighthouse next month. I can't wait! VaCaTiOn!!! :-)
And...didn't we have a wonderful "summer weather" week? It was unreal how warm it got.
(((hugs))) I have several fibro friends. I'm sorry.
