I've Missed You!

Well, it's been a boring week - a lot of recuperating and not much else. Today I finally felt good enough [and bored enough] to start this....

I had cut all these squares back when my machine was at the spa. Last year, I made my mother a lap quilt. Lap quilts, as the name suggests, are not full size, they’re meant to keep your legs warm. Well, she tries to sleep under hers. She’s short but not that short. So I’m making a simple patchwork out of the repro 30’s fabrics for her, for Christmas. Yes, I started today, yes, I’m nuts. But you knew that, right?

I’m also working on Vikki’s stitchery pattern, Mother’s Love. I promised to show you last post, and here it is.

Sorry about the awful pictures - it was so dark in here! I colored in with crayon, but not dark enough, so I’ll be going over it again after I’m done stitching. This is for my mum’s birthday, which is December 20. I really love this pattern, and will probably make a small pillow for her from it.

The assessment is over, for now. Or should I say on hold. Clerical work is not an option. When I’m typing from home, I’m half-laying in my recliner, with my keyboard on my lap, my neck is well supported. And I really don’t type that much. Sitting upright for long periods is painful.

It’s not looking like Christmas around here yet – I’ve been admiring all your trees and d├ęcor in blogland, and feeling like a slug! My mum and friend will be coming over for a cookie baking marathon, we’ll scour the thrift store for pretty tins, and everyone will get cookies for Christmas. Unless we eat them all……mmmmmmmmmmm.

I'm finally all caught up on my blog reading, and back to commenting, thank goodness! I missed you all so much!

Lovely stitching. I'm sure your Mom will love it. And you still have two weeks to work on the quilt ;-)

Oh boy you better get to sewing. I like the fabric with the wagons on it. Very cute.
I love your stitchery too. I think the coloring that you have is very nice the way it is.

I am glad you are able to get back to sewing. The stitching is beautiful. I wish mine looked a little more perfect. But alas mine shows up a little to hand made lol :)

Very cute fabrics! I am sure that if you are not able to get the quilt 100% finished, your mother wouldn't mind giving you a few days to finish it. ;)

It'll be interesting to see what the assessment results will be...I think! Living with chronic pain is not fun at all. Love your stitchery for your mum, she'll love it.

I can't think of a better gift for a Mom than your BEAUTIFUL embroidery. She is going to love it.

So glad you are a little bit better, but be sure to take care of yourself!

Glad you're feeling better and see that we have something in common! My mom's birthday is the 17th, so we both have to put extra thought toward our mother's at this time of year!! I'm redoing a cricket rocker for mom for Christmas and getting her a digital frame for birthday (my dad and I teamed up!) Have fun baking!!!

With the squares already cut you can easily get that quilt done by Christmas! I have faith in you! :0)

Love the stitchery too! I've colored with pencils before but never have used crayons.

Those are pretty fabrics, and you stack them up so nice and neatly. I just throw mine and hope they land in the right stack! It wouldn't be Christmas without doing stuff at the last minute. It's the energy and the adrenalin and the excitement. Your stitchery is pretty too - I need to bring out my crayons more often. I haven't done any decorating yet either.

I love the stitch pattern you are making ~ from a distance it looks like a mermaid with all her pretty swirly hair.

The stitchery is looking really pretty. I can't wait to see the completed project. I had made a Christmas lap quilt last year and it doesn't even go with my living room so my mom wants it for her bed. I told her it's just not big enough. But you know moms. I'm giving it to her for Christmas this year.

Sorry that you've been in so much pain, it certainly doesn't help to get you in the Christmas spirit. Hope you'll be feeling better soon.

Don't feel too sluggy - I haven't got much up yet either. In fact, I probably won't put anything up outside - there's just too much else to do!

glad to see that you're back into the groove of things! You are so ambitious to start projects so close to Christmas. That's cute that your mom tries to stretch out her current lap quilt, so I know that this larger quilt will be the perfect gift.

Love how your embroidery/drawing piece is coming along...that will make a really cute pillow!
