Squares and Swaps

Hello bloggy friends, I've missed you! Guess what - my machine is all fixed up and is ready for me to come get her! And I can't go til next Thursday. What have I been doing you ask? Well, you probably haven't, but I'm going to tell you anyway.

I've been cutting. Squares. Lots and lots of squares. Remember the Snippets bundle I won from Kelly at Charming Chatter? Well, I finally got up enough nerve to cut into it.

I've wanted to make a real patchwork quilt for awhile now - nothing but squares - and this is going to do it. There's enough here for TWO quilts, yippee! And I got the binding cut too!

I've also pulled out all of my 30's repro fabrics, and have been cutting them as well.

I'm cutting for different quilts - one [or however many I can make] just squares, the other this quilt from the book I won in Terry's give-away.

The plan is to have everything cut and ready to go by the time my machine gets home.

Yesterday, I read this book:

If you read it, keep a box of tissues handy. Oh my. Every book gets better.

I also joined a swap. Jenny of Elefantz and Vicki from Tozz's Corner are hosting a lovely swap! A Mug Hug and a Mug Mat - you're not allowed to put anything else in the package - and they will fit in a regular envelope! That will really keep the postage cost down, and I'm so thankful. This is going to be fun! They've drawn up some lovely designs you can use for your swap gifts.

Have a lovely weekend!

Your planned quilts will be quite sweet. Cutting the fabric is always a bit hard. Hope it goes well!

You are the second person I've seen talking about this book now.

Oh my! You certainly have been busy. This is wonderful, because once you get your sewing maching back, you can just sit and sew. I can't wait to see the traditional patchwork quilt, especially with those fabrics. It will be so pretty and colorful.

You HAVE been busy! I actually LOVE the cutting process, more so than the piecing. I'm sure it is because there is a lot less thinking involved with cutting...and the repetition is soothing. So am I STRANGE??
I really like that flower quilt! Looks like it will be fun! xo

Drool, drool, drool, drool....sigh.
Love that fabric. I love it so much I bought some today...now I have to wait for it to arrive from the US, then I have a charm square pack, a layer cake, and a honeybun roll to make into a quilt. ;-)
I would LOVE to read her books but WHERE does one find the time to read???? Sighing again...

Lovely fabric, what a lovely win. I have some Snippets, too, saving it for a special project ; ))
I have read the Lost Quilt, and have to agree with you - keep those tissues handy! Loved the story, one of the best in the whole series.
Good luck on your quilt!

I need a cutting mat so I can start cutting squares. I'm thinking I will ask for one for my birthday which is in October. That should put me in the timeframe I have to get back to sewing. Never made a quilt but I am determined to make a teeny one by winters end.

Love your fabric!!!

That pattern is gorgeous! What book did it come from? I love appliqu├ęs and the book...I'm going on Amazon right now to find it.
Thanks Allie for your inspiration into getting things done even when there is a curve in our path!
