Secret Project Revealed

My friend Betty is a treasure. I've never met her, but I love her dearly. She and her hubby were going to spend their 20th anniversary at one of their favorite places, Heceta Head Lighthouse in Oregon. I wanted to do something to commemorate that.

Shortly after I started this, they found out her hubby has cancer. He's in the fight of his life. Please keep him in your prayers. Their faith is an amazing thing.

This was very fun to quilt, but it did distort somewhat. I've never machine-quilted this heavily before.

I drew the design and painted it, using regular craft acrylics. Then I machine quilted, NOT free motion. That was fun.

The rose and names are machine-embroidered. In their pictures of the trip, on the way up Betty had a rose on the dashboard. I looked through my stash of designs and didn't have a long stemmed rose! I got this one from Embroidery Library.

I love the way the water turned out.

Betty and Layne, I love you guys.

What a gift. I have to agree your quilting really makes the image. Amazing how the piece conveys so much movement. How large is it?

Layne and Betty prayers and love headed your way! Beat that Cancer!!!

Oh Allie, is wonderful. My anniversary is next week. *wink* How did you make that? I love it. I want one. You said you did this with acrylic paints? It's awesome. You are a friend to treasure for ever. I know they will love it and I will indeed remember to pray.

We used to watch Nick @ Nite a lot (back when it was good) and my son, every since we he was a toddler, loved Lucy. When he was learning his shapes, he saw a heart and said, "Look Mom! A Lucy!". He thought hearts were called Lucy's. LOL Isn't that sweet? It's become a family word now. We call hearts, "Lucy". LOL

God bless you today.

What a thoughtful gift, and beautifully done. And I absolutely loved your random post, BTW. The randomness of it was so completely . . . random . . . I just found it very entertaining. Like when my ipod is on shuffle. Thanks for sharing, as always!
